Paradox (http://www.turbododge.com/forums/16358-paradox.html) of Lebanon, TN came to my house in mid November 2007 to purchase some parts from my 1985 Chrysler Laser that I was parting out. I sold him all the parts (including the transaxle) to convert his automatic car to manual for $25. He paid me the $25 for that. He also wanted the complete 2.2 turbo engine from the car. The guy is young and seemed like he could use a break, therefore I thought I'd be a nice guy. So I offered it to him for the super low price of $25. He didn't have the money for it, so I told him to go ahead and take it and pay me later. He said he would.

I even helped him pull all these parts out of the car which wasn't part of the original deal. So, basically I sold $200 worth of parts and threw in some free labor for an agreed on $50. I've only received $25 so far. Also, I've been VERY patient with him considering it is over 7 months later. He has given me more than a few excuses. I have given him the benefit of the doubt more than once. Since he hasn't replied to my last 2 private messages, I decided to report him as a bad guy so nobody else gets lied to and ripped off by this guy.

Am I going to miss the money? No. I'd probably have given the engine to him if I had thought he really needed it. It's just the principle of the whole deal. I just hate to be lied to especially after being nice to somebody.

EDIT: I remember now. It was November 12, 2007. I missed a great college football game, that I was really wanting to watch, to help this guy out.

shoulda told him to come back with 25 bucks to get the engine. most retail stores and junkyards wont let you take stuff without paying for it first.

Yeah, you're right. I'm usually pretty good at "reading" people and I've had very good luck with turbo Mopar people. He seemed like a pretty good kid, so I felt about 99% certain that I would get the money. Also, I figured I'd save him another 200 mile trip to and from my house. I was wrong this time.

Like I said, I'm not hurting for the money. If I was, I'd have charged him way more than $25 and requested the cash up front.

It was not an expensive lesson, but it was a lesson nontheless. Here's an improved version of the slogan that appears on our money,
IN GOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS PAY CASH !

I do believe in the payment plan though. You pay for it in one payment, that's MY plan.

I just thought I would bring it up again. Some folks just don't have a conscience.
