I bought one off of you on ebay (username is clvrleaf on ebay)and I'm having a problem installing it. The strut bar doesn't want to sit straight across the towers. We have tried flipping it around to the other side and still it won't sit right.

We looked at the blue brackets where it bolts to the towers and it appears the bracket on one side is different than the other.
Is it possible brackets were mixed up?

any help/info ,etc would really help.
thanks
steve

Hello, I just emailed you back. It is like that for a few reasons. First the way the car tries to twist when you punch it from a stop and especially if your roosting your tires. This counters the twisting and strenghtens the chasis from the passeneger to the drivers side. The second is to clear some intake manifolds and throttlebodies. Also this setup is very strong and if it were a simple straight accross design like some, it wouldn't work as well. This was designed for loading and distributing torque, flex and roll from the chasis. I had help from an old 80's Chyrsler Engineer that explained and helped me with the blueprint designs. This is not just a pretty part to bolt on but a strong brace for racing and to work with the front suspension on the Shelby cars. It wasn't a mistake in the manufacture.

Install it and try it out before and after. As long as your suspension is tight, you should feel the tighter front end.

I am always here to help or answer questions. I might even get Charles to comment on this design if you feel its necessary.. Thanks for asking and email me anytime... see you all on ebay and at the shows....mikecombs66

Your going to have to remove or modify that hood water drain pan. The GLHS cars have the removable 4 bolts that removes the drain box. If you have a turbo 1 non glhs, you will have to add spacers as others have done (i have been told ) or modify or remove that water box or at least change it enough to stop touching the brace. Not a huge deal but as always on our cars, we have to modify and correct factory mistakes.

Once that brace is installed, you will realize that it was well worth the extra effort.

I am sorry that your having problems. I mentioned this on the auction in case you want to double check. Others have removed their boxes andf some had cut and made the box shorter or smaller. I am sure that you don't need that drain box but it is completely up to you. If it were my car, I would trim off the bottom enough to allow the motor to vent heat and to clear the brace. You could even add a sheet of metal to an angle to drain the water run off to the fire wall area. Paint it black and your in business, the water will drain and the brace will fit. It would also look stock as long as you do it clean.

If you have any other problems or questions. Email me directly...

Sorry about the problems...

What is a block off vent? Do you mean the water drain box for the hood vent? Yes but only IF you unbolt the 4 bolts and remove the water drain box. With it installed, it will interfer and not allow the hood to close.

Yes, remove the drip pan and you'll be fine AND a side benefit....the engine will breath a little better.
