Geez, Corby--just go straight for the jugular. ;)

sigh

Seriously, this is the only reason why the van is for sale. For that matter, this is also why there is no intercooler installed. Back when I was driving the blue van, I was constantly tinkering with it. Making little changes here, trying new ideas there, always looking forward to my next trip to RMR to see if I could go any faster. The dragstrip was my motivation and I loved it.

Since getting married, I just haven't been able to get out to the track... at all. My wife isn't opposed to it per se; it's more of a scheduling issue. Still, I know I'm not going to get this thing to the track... which means I'm just not excited or motivated enough to actually do anything to it. So it just sits here, unchanged, and drives me back and forth to work. I basically drive it like a grandma--I hardly ever get into boost, even. (Although I adore the exhaust note!) It's pathetic, really.

So now I've finally come to the realization that I'm just not having fun with it any more. If that's the case, why bother hanging on to it? So now it's up for grabs. I might as well let somebody else get in on the fun.

I'm certain there will come a future day when I will miss it. Am I done with drag racing for good? I tell myself I'm not, but as I look at the last 2.75 years of my (married) life, I kinda wonder if maybe I am.

I dunno, man. I just don't know.

Dempsey,

Have some Boy's My 21 year old has kept the hobby alive in our home, my 16 year old wants his Shelby Dakota to go Faster and my 11 year old is longing for his 16th birtday so he can drive his 87 GLHS. And my wife condones all of this nonsense because its time the boys and I spend together . So maybe you just need to take a few years break. I've missed you not being out at RMR hope all else is well.

Holy cow--he's 21 now?!? Wow.

We're not working on having kids yet, but your message gives me hope for the future. Thanks, Brett.

Yep he's been home for 3 months from his mission in Houston Texas, and he's been driving my 90 Black Turbo mini van, your's is almost identical to mine, except you have a lot neater stuff, why didn't you try to sell this 8 months ago, to build mine with all of your good stuff it would cost me twice as much as what you have yours for sale for, your tempting me.... your van sounds like a very reasonable price for what you have into it. Maybe I should reduce my fleet of Shelby Lancers and increase my fleet of 90mini vans...

The sad thing is, I could have. I didn't just wake up yesterday and decide to sell the van; this is an idea that has been growing steadily for almost a year now. If only I had known you were in the market!

When selling used vehicles, people tend to inflate their price so as to leave room for haggling. I prefer to honestly assess its condition, determine a genuinely fair market value, and price it accordingly. I know I certainly couldn't duplicate this van for the list price; I figured it would be obvious to most van shoppers as well.

I'd love to keep this van "in the family" so to speak. Maybe we can get your wife's blessing and make it work. ;)

Wow, that really kinda seems odd. No more Dempsey at the race track. Well, will you at least come watch me break my omni this year?

Aw man.... if it wasn't for the fact that I'm totally restoring a Spirit R/T I saved from going to the junkyard three years ago (and that I didn't have two other cars to take care of), I'd drive down there with my dad and give you the $ 2500 which I have in cash _right now_ and pick it up. :( But I will spread the word up here for you to those not on the net and let them know. Good luck, my friend!

I know, I know. When we were dating, I once told my wife, "cars will come and cars will go, but I'll always have a turbo minivan." Perhaps I was wrong, but this doesn't mean I'm out forever. I'm sure I'll pick one up sometime in the future.

(crosses fingers)
