1985 Dodge Shelby Charger - $450 OBO
Status: Clean Title
I have a 1985 Dodge Shelby Charger for sale, in USA - Iowa.
Mileage: 124k? miles
Asking price is $450 OBO
I have an 85 Shelby Charger, red with silver, sunroof, gray interior with CS logo seats, 5-speed. I got it in 2000 as a project--non-running condition with the interior disassembled and having sat for quite a while. I got it running shortly thereafter but it never ran right (got hot and lacked power); I went to college and it sat at my parents' farm until a few years ago when I worked on it a few weekends and rebuilt the turbo. After the turbo rebuild it ran better but the check engine light would come on after a while and it would henceforth run like crap. I haven't had time to mess with it since and am coming to the realization that I probably never will, so it might as well go to a better home. My suspicion is that a new power module might go a long way to getting it fixed.
The body is in decent shape--paint is faded and there are some dings but not really any rust. Some of the plastic ground effects were pretty hashed but I procured pieces to replace the bad ones (the front bumper would require a bit of repair work, but should be usable without too much trouble). Wheels are not original (5-spoke 14" aluminum) and tires are shot. The interior carpet is pretty nasty but the seats are fairly good--there are a couple small holes in the front seats but the rear cushions have been in my parents basement and should be pretty mint. Some of the interior is disassembled (door panels, headliner, etc) but it should be more or less complete.
I also have a parts engine out of an 84 Laser; it seemed to be stuck but may have some useful parts--we did rob some turbo parts when rebuilding that but head/block/etc are all intact.
When I got the car it hadn't been driven for several years and wasn't put in storage so registration payments were out of date. I have the title with the previous owner's signature.... I had intended to pay up the registration and transfer it to my name when I got it roadworthy but that never happened. I did a little bit of checking when I was working on it a few years ago and my understanding is that it has been removed from the D.M.V.'s records but can be re-titled with a signed affidavit that it wasn't driven for X years.
Car is located in the vicinity of Corning Iowa and would probably need to be trailered to its new home. Too many projects, not enough time, so this really needs to find a new home. It should be worth quite a bit more than I'm asking even to part it out.
