Just want to know what people think of the scoup. Air intake hasn't been changed yet because I don't have a screen for the scoup and the engine is a peice of crap. But what do you all think?

Kinda neat- although I would lean toward it being doubled...(twin scoops) would sure take some fancy sheetmetal work though....

(What is that in front of the scoop opening? Snow, or flaked paint?)

very cool. Just need to get your air intake sealed up behind it so you're not pressurizing the engine bay.

Looks cool, i had the same idea. Except i don't know what color paint i have on my car. The painter used a House of Kolor Blue. If i knew what color and if that painter was still working...I would of had a nice scoop aswell.

Tks for the feedback. The last picture is snow not flaked paint. And the peice on the hood was actually too much to just pound down, so got a new peice of aluminum and shaped it, spray painted the bottom, and repainted the whole hood after water sanding it. Pressurize the engine bay?

I wanted to use the stock hood for the scoup, it would look really weird if I doubled it using the stock bulge size. And it's right over the TB so it's in the perfect spot anyhow.

didn't know that the engine bay was sealed off.. pressurizing the engine bay is impossible.. and not to mention having that cold air rush into the engine bay would drop the underhood temp's a shit load.. pressurizing the engine bay.. wow...

When I said "double it", that was because another guy on this site, actually grafted another bulge onto his Hood...so with that double scoop, it would all be symetrical! Looks good anyway...

Jim... what you might be thinking of is what Kaleb did last summer or the summer before and put on here.... it was induction scoops on a hood for a 92 and up he did a GREAT job on that hood, and has some COOL **** out at his farm (I was out there two summers ago)

Anyway.. this hood looks damn good too... GOOD JOB!!

VERY nice! I like it! How did you attatch the aluminum to the steel hood?

Yes, it IS possible to pressurize the engine bay. The right conditions have to be present, but it CAN happen. Think about it...how does cowl induction work? By using the high pressure area next to the windsheild to force air in to the intake(or engine bay). In this case the scoop is not in a high pressure area, so a lot of speed would be needed for this to happen. With this desgin he should not expereince engine bay pressureization, BUT, I would make sure the coolant temps don't rise on the highway. The reason I say that is that under constant speeds is might be possible to cut down the pressure differential beweent the front and back of the radiator with this scoop causing highway overheat. That is why there is that air dam under the car....make sure it's there!

Tape some yarn to the hood. Guess where it's gonna go, in the hole. Which then raises the pressure in the engine bay. The aero mods on my tona have such a great effect under the hood I can create negative pressure at a measly 25MPH.

Your "underhood" temps might drop a bit but at the expense of radiator cooling efficiency and intercooler efficiency. I've got a Cummins I/C, and a T2 rad with a 195' T-stat in my car and even when it's 104 out in the summer here the car never even thinks about overheating.

Just put a box and a seal so that all the air that goes in the scoop goes into the air filter and turbo and you'll be fine.
