I work with my brother at Abra Auto Body. Even though I am not a tech, my brother is Platinum Certified.
From front to back this car is being stripped of every bolt. It will be media blasted in a couple weeks. My brother is gonna fix all the dents and paint it Blue. The current color of choice is Viper GTS Blue, but it's subject to change.
After it's painted, the carpet and headliner will be replaced. Once the body is 100% I will get it on some nice suspension and then it will probobly sit until I can afford the built Forward Motion 2.2 with a Garret T04B.

I agree with capev86, the viper blue will be awesome. If I didn't have an 89 CSX I would have painted my car viper blue. White trim would be really cool, esp. if powder coated your wheels white, IMHO.
Have fun tearing it apart!

I have been looking at A LOT of pictures and I still think Viper Blue is the color of choice, but I am leaning against tu-toning. I am thinking ALL blue with black window trim and reconditioning my stock wheels would look the best.
Oh, and tearing it apart has been a blast.
The body is VERY sound, except for the rear re-inforcement. For some reason the rebar is completely rusted out to the point where one of the mounts is GONE!
I have been in contact with a local shop to get a quote on media blasting, because I am definately going all out.
I have also been in contact with Mike at Forward Motion to get 400 horse to the wheels...he he he.

Here is the progress!!!!
Drive axles, power steering, and alternator and the engine is ready to come out.
After the engine is pulled, then all is left is wiring, and the heater core. Then I have to get it up in the air so I can pull the suspension and fuel tank.
My brother is gonna pull the windows and she'll be ready for media blasting.
I got my carpet samples today and I chose a color. It's just a LITTLE darker than the original, and WAY softer.
Paint will be here before I know it.
Viper Blue is still the color of choice. My thoughts are still to go ALL Blue, but a lot of people are telling me to paint the ground effects the orignal grey.
I am pretty good with 3D Studio Max, so I am gonna try to get a little model going of the Daytona so I can try to get some better ideas going.

Wow, When I first saw picutures of that car a little while back, I thought it looked mint. Sounds like it'll really be nice when you're done.
BTW, I saw you were looking for a club a while back. I don't know if you about our local Shelby club. MNSDAC. We usually post dates of our meetings (get togethers) in the Events/Racing area.
Take a look at the pictures of our meetings. Get a hold of "Layapatch" (Jim) if you want to join. We're a really informal bunch of guys/gals.

I will definately look that up...thanks.
Yeah, the car was in pretty nice shape when I got it, thats why I chose this peticular one. It needed interior work, a head gasket, and now it needs a clutch (he he). My oldest brother built an '86 D150, and my middle brother HAD an '84 Shelby Charger that he built both before they moved out. So this is just something I want to do before I move out and can't afford to.
You can see ALL the pictures I have uploaded at http://Stratous.250free.com/My_Car
BTW - My oldest brother has a '92 Chrysler Lebaron GTC with a 2.5 turbo 5 speed. The car is LOADED and MINT and is a total blast to drive. My Shelby will a super fast show car. I definately plan on winning shows when it's done.

Cool. That's the High Torque 2.5 /568 in that isn't it? Paul from the club has one. Actually, It's the convertable version. Very very nice car. Check it out.

GTCs were convirtables. GTs were coupes...So you could say that the C stood for convirtable.
My brother's is just like that red one, except ALL white with the grey leather.
I just noticed you live in Coon Rapids...Where in Coon Rapids?
I live near the corner of Coon Rapids Blvd and Egret Blvd.

Funny you should ask where I live. I just asked you in another thread. I'm near Hanson and Mississippi Blvd. I'm a block west of that intersection.
As for the GTC's and GT's. There were GTC converts and hard tops. The same with GT's Came both ways.

jrbexhaust - Are you gonna be at the meeting next Tuesday morning?
Here are a couple more shots. Axles, and exhaust and the engine is ready to pull, it should be out next week. I have to pay some bills with tomorrows pay check, but the fenders, doors, hatch, and hood should all be media blasted in two weeks. The shell will be done when it's finished being stripped.
I still can't decide on a color.

Oh this is just great. I am going to have local competition. So much for being the streetable Minnesota G-body lord. I am looking to do a similar restoration to my '92 Daytona, but probably not to that extreme. The paint is getting pretty bad. The reason I probably won't go that "all-out" is because I still want to drive it on a pretty regular basis. It started out as essentially a base model car and I added the power windows, power seat, overhead console, rear wiper, traveler computer, and the best of all, turbocharged power! I am definitely looking into some assistance with paint/light bodywork--pretty much the car's only flaw at this point.
I'll have my Lebaron tomorrow, and probably the rest of the summer. I would really like to check out your brother's. About five years ago I almost bought a nearly identical (turbo/5spd) one from Sparkle auto sales in White Bear Lake. Then one was traded in at Tousley Ford. Then mine showed up at Trail Dodge in Inver Grove where I bought it. Then a couple years ago I saw one on 35E near St. Paul but had an auto trans (I could hear turbo spoolage and how it shifted as I drove next to it)
All were Red convertibles. Now we've found another one (your brother's). They suddenly don't seem that rare anymore LOL. I'm up to 141,000 miles and going strong. Original short block and turbo. Needs some transmission work though.
