Turbomini, I'm NOT trying to get in a war here. And, I admit my knowledge is limited. But, my early production 84 Daytona Turbo (not Turbo Z) has all the same ground effects and the same exhaust tip. The only difference is mine has the single piece wing, not the wrap-around 3 piece. I hope this helps and does not hurt the situation!! djd.

Well you see in 86 you could either get the turbo car or the not turbo car
The only way you could get a turbo motor in 86 was with a turbo z. Otherwise no turbo!
So what he is saying is because it has that muffler (turbo car only) it has to be a turbo z =)
War averted (not that one was going to start or anything )

^ Lol.. thanks. Its a personal fav. Can I just say, that I love my 86 Z. And come to think of it, the only 86's I've seen are either a non turbo or a Z. I'm not siding with anybody. I'm still very new to TD's. But thats just my

waht is the 7th digit of the vin ? are there any rivet holes in the side of the body where the crease/bumped out body line is ? this is where the ground effects for a turboz would have been attached.

model options where
base model w/2.2 tbi
basemodel w/ 2.2 turbo (there are more of these than you think)
turboz 2.2 turbo
turboz c/s 2.2 turbo

these where trim levels, meaning basemodel had no exterior cladding and a base interior. turboz was an upgraded trim level and c/s was the fully loaded z.

I will check on the VIN number.
There are no rivet holes on the side of the body where the molding should be.
The rear bumber does not say Turbo Z.
There are no holes where the lower side ground fx would be.
The interior is pretty basemodel looking. Only a chronograph, no navigator. Cloth seats, although drivers side has a hand pump for lumbar support. It's pretty lame.
BTW, mine is an 85, not an 86.

definetely not a z unless someone went through the trouble of filling all the holes and repainting then changing the tail lights. not probable.

Well, given he just said it's an '85, that kinda kills the running theories. There WAS defiantely an '85 base model not-Z turbo Daytona, and that's what his car most likely is (unless someone went through a lot of trouble to make it turbo with '85 electronics. Bleh)

And who said a non-turbo '86 Daytona isn't TBI?!? The Daytona NEVER had a carburated option from the factory.
