Harry Glass stuff is made for door slammers, not funny cars, but I digress.
You *CAN* make the hoods work on non extended cars. You just have to do some trimming and use hood pins(as with ANY fiberglass OR carbon fiber hood!!). The doors they make should work, but you're going to have to MAKE them work. I would not advise them for a street car unless you have a full cage with side bars. You will loose roll-up window functionality also.
To get the kind of functionality and quality needed for the kind of parts you are wanting, it's going ot be not just expensive, but VERY expensive(think almost $1000 for a good hood on the production scale we are tlaking about). I would not even bother with fiberglass fenders on a Daytona if they are going to look stock. They are already fairly light and by the time you do all the prep work to get them to fit right and everything, the weight savings of MAYBE 2#'s just isn't going to be worth it!
The hatch on these cars itself isn't heavy, it's the glass. Relpace that with some Lexan and you'll notice a HUGE difference. The thing is...it requires some special care so you can continue to see out of it.
This type of thing has been tlaked about MANY times over the last 10-12 YEARS...I've not seen anything come of it yet. One guy was able to make his own hood, but it took him almost a year and he said he wasn't going to make another one....
