K so i plan on swapping out my flat tailights with the newer style on my 91 tona (which i have already done on an 89) i Already have the items needed n all. So the kicker though, the previous owner someone must of lightly rolled into the rear right corner cause it's slightly pushed in and has a good sized bubble in it and i can't swap out tailights (the backing is cracked from bumper) unless i change the bumper too. SOOOO i went to the j-yard this morning and picked up the matching bumper to go with the newer tailights. It looks like it will fit fine. I'lll just have to drill out a three holes on either side where it wraps around for the screws.... Now the really irritating part.. as i was walking back from pulling the bumper, one of those metal brackets that are sorta set in the side of the bumper fell out so ofcourse i can't put it on

So unless i can find it on Monday... gonna be a while making up some home made ones... I was also planning on possibly putting on some 92 G-fx to match the body line with the rear bumper but that may take a lil longer (i have all hardware for that as well ) I'll try doing before and afters too

Oh and i'm having the floor pans fixed Monday (yay!) and it sounded good to me but the guy was going to use aluminum for reason that it just won't rust... I can't think of really any reason not to use it as long as it's a heavy enough guage.

How exactly will he be welding aluminum to steel? Just bolting in aluminum panels isn't a FIX, it's a patch. The only way to really fix the problem is to get rid of ALL the rust, then weld in new steel sheet, followed by undercoating or paint.

well partly due to cost too, i agreed that he would use pop rivets with sealer then grind of the excess rivets and make sure it doesn't leak... ok so yah i guess a patch, but the entire pan isn't rusted. it's just a relatively small area like 10 inches wide by 6 long right over the framerail where it starts to bend up torwards the engine bay (which has no rust) on both sides. it only rusted out due to there having no floor mats and the water just soaked through and rotted those spots out..

Eventually years down the road i'll replace the whole floor pan at some point but i have neither the space nor the tools to do it myself

you know you could just make a patch panel, fit it in place, take the car to a body shop or muffler shop and have them weld it for you. why do things twice? i doubt youd be charged more than 20-30 bucks.

Guess i could have done that but i'm not really in a place i can even do that. Theres no garage and no pavement. I'm moving in three weeks and realy just needed to get the holes patched up. It's been raining every day here so far for the past week off and on

When i get relocated i'll redo it all myself eventually when it gets to the point where i'm ready to have it painted
