Okay here is my question.

I have any 89 Turbo mini. I have a lead on a parts car (for exterior and interior parts, not mechanical parts) Mainly need a drivers door, rear hatch, front fender, hood, and the bench seats for the interior...

The parts car has the stacked headlight grill... Will all the exterior parts bolt on my 89 mini from the 86? I have not been to see the actual car to see if they look the same (it is a distance from my house- and it is hard to really know from the few pics that have been sent to me). I just hate to get all the way out there with a tow dolly and there is some difference in the way the door mounts or the hatch bolts on or someting dumb like that.

Sorry if this is a dumb inquiry - I just really have no idea with the vans...
Any input is greatly appreciated.
(The current owners tell me the car has a mitsubishi 2.6L in it)

Thanks!
Jason

Why not go with the second gen body/interior parts? I'm pretty sure all the body parts from the 86 will work, but the front fender might be questionable. Unless you're picking up the camper edition, I think you should be okay with the interior. But the 3rd gen van seats had the rollers to make them a little easier to work with. Also had the reclining option..

This is not the camper edition (I did not know they made one of those) But the most important parts are the exterior parts really. Mainly the doors and rear hatch.
Thanks for the info!

Hatch should not be a problem externally, just make sure the wiring is the same. Door should also be good, even the slider if wanted, regardless of Grand or plain Voyager. Just have to watch when swapping 2-gen doors onto a 1-gen body, more of a hassle than it's worth. Unless there is an exception with the 2-gen CV's. But now I'm getting carried away, bottom line, grab the parts and they should work.

Thats good to know... SO basically the 86 is a 1st gen, my 89 is a second gen?
Or is my 89 still a first gen? I am a little confused on the vans...

I thought that 84-90 was 1st and 1.5 gen (main difference being the headlights), 91-95 was 2nd gen, etc.
