Having had a hole just welded shut in it, last step was some good old rust preventing paint. I just used what the paint we had. Some 10 year old cans of "ocean blue" paint. Figured OK. My car's blue. This could turn out decently. Call me crazy, but i expected it to turn out blue.
What i got was a nice riceresque "OCEAN BLUE!!"

I don't think it's too terrible for a 10 minute rattlecan job, although it's certainly not great. I still have another coat to do. I do plan to redo it eventually with actual engine paint, but this is a good quick temporary fix. I find this color embarrassing actually, just how outlandishly bright it is on a darker car. When I repaint it I'm definitely going darker, like black, or a blue that actually matches the car.

At least an oil leak will be easy to spot now.

With the hood shut no one can see it any way. Unless they're laying under your car!
Look at it this way. At least you didn't have a thread 4-pages long asking people "HOW DO I PAINT MY OIL PAN" !!!

Yeah that's pretty much spot on the stp color?

And yeah. I don't think i'd waste td's time asking how to paint stuff. especially from a rattlecan.

To my surprise and joy, it actually turned out darker upon drying an hour.

Not exact, but it's pretty close

Yeah and the paint's older than i thought. Still has a price tag on it from Van Leunens. Anybody even remember that chain? I think they closed in like, 94?

Thanks. I don't totally hate the color. For 20 year old paint i can't complain.
