*sigh* well it's a longer project than i hoped for due to old bolts rusting on and needing to weld on new ones that hold the bumper from the inside and the lower tabs.... Sooo yah i've been in the process of updating my rear tail light assembly and bumper for the 3rd gen style. I was only going to do the tail lights but there was a big bubble in my bumper so i figured why not. The wiring was the easy part. Took me 15 minutes. I had new brackets made for the wrap around and once i get the others welded on i'll drill the holes for the side brackets and then lastly the lower tabs... I am currentlt spending a while trying to get those stupid lower tab bolts out. No socket size i have will work for them. The heads taper, most likley from age, so i have to cut them off (fitting a dremel in there is tricky) Fortunatley they are not bolted into the rear bumper but only use those metal clip thingys that slide over the hole and you bolt into that. SOOOOoo I guess i'll head back out while there is still daylight and cut away some more.

I finally finished. Had to wait a day for some new bolts welded into the hatch bumper brackets and spent a good 4 hours lining everything up to drill oput new holes, i used por on the newly drilled holes and also used clear rtv to keep water out on all of them. All said and done i guess probably a total of 5 or 6 hours for everything. (Was being really picky on matching up both sides) Plus had to grind off some rust on the lower far rear quarter panel that was all eaten up it looked like craters. I grinded that off and patched the fiberglass , sanded down and pored.(fortunately the new bumper completely covered that anyways) I'll try posting some pictures tomorrow if anyone is interested....

Oh yah took me an extra hour though cause the car must of had someone lightly bump the rear passenger side of the bumper as it was bumped up just enough that i had to take a heavy duty mallet and pound a little area down to fit the fiberglass backing properly. But it all worked out.

So the only real problem i encountered was the slight bump on the right bumper that after trying to bolt the wing onto the backing i relized the right wing doesn't set in like it should SOOOO i'm gonn have to take the backing off and pound it down some more

Wow, that REALLY makes helps show that they used the same base design for the cars, you can barely tell that they came off of two different years/body kits. I do like the 89-91 body graphics with the 92-93 tail lights though. How does it go with the rest of the car?

Plus, would you be able to use those tail lights with the stock 89-91 rear bumper? I think that is the only part that does not seem to match up in terms of body lines.

You can use the existing bumper with the taillights. Mine had a buldge in it from the previous owner being tapped. I have the Ground-fx for both sides too i'll eventually put on to match it better. As far as i know you can use these tail lights on any Daytona. The Fiberglass backing has the same placement of the screws as any of the gens.
