Getting my 87 Shelby Z Daytona ready for paint. How are the rear Daytona, Shelby Z and Dodge emblems mounted? What is the best method of removing them without destroying them?

it appears to be 2 sided tape.. i would think heating it up while gently prying would do it. not a heat gun, itll melt! but hair dryer maybe?

Get a putty knife and just gently wedge it in betweenn the metal and the emblem and use a mallet and tap the end of the putty knife and the emblem should come off

Once you get them off, home depot and other places carry this stuff that comes in a tin (like lighter fluid) called goo-off, which you should brush on the car where the elbum was, and on the back of the elbum- that way after a few seconds you can wipe off any epoxy residue left behind, which will make your life easier for prep work both in painting the car and in reapplying the elbums later on.

I haven't used it on the Daytona ones, but it was fine for cleaning the metal Imperial or Dynasty words off my cars and also works on the various rubber & plastic trim parts used on the AC/AYs which, I am going to guess- are similar to the Daytona ones in material.

When in doubt test it on a junk part to make sure it won't dissolve or discolor it. All I can say is it worked good for me.

Dental floss also works nice once you soften the tape up with a hair drier. Since your painting and don't need to be careful with the paint then a putty knife does the trick.

I am looking for gray interior trim for a J-body (1987-1989) LeBaron coupe hardtop. If you have anything please PM me before throwing it out. I am also selling tan trim if you're interested.
