Re: Official C/S Daytona Thread

Since I thought of this, an the turbododge staff made the thread, I might as well post the first C/S Daytona on the thread.

1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z C/S

VIN # 1B3BA64E7GG130066

Pictures are on my album of what I've done so far.

Thanks to the turbododge staff for making this thread for us C/S owners.

Re: Official C/S Daytona Thread

Mine's been posted elsewhere before. Need to get it out just for new pics one day.

1986 CS, 5 speed, black cloth interior, factory AC delete, analog dash, all the power goodies and driver's enthusiast seat.

I need to get around to finishing its new motor with 555 trans. Swapping the wiring system to that from an 89 T2.

Have four wheel disk setup from 88 Shelby Z, but am hoping to score a setup with the bigger rears from a 90 Shelby.

Re: Official C/S Daytona Thread

1986 Turbo C/S: 5 speed, power everything, digi dash,...

I picked this car up just outside of Virginia Tech on the same day that wacko kid shot the place up. I was driving to get the car (I was in a rental car) and was getting passed hell, west, and crooked by news vans. I finally turned on the radio to find out what was going on. I'll never forget the day I got this car.

DSCF0009 by chilort, on Flickr

Lot's of stuff in the works for this C/S. It hasn't been on the road in about 2 years. It is being converted into a streetable track day car (leaving the A/C etc, which was converted to digital from an '87 Lebaron).

Engine:
2.5L common block
F4 cam from FWD Perf (billet on a bigger base circle)
Conical valve springs and 2.4L lifters
Stock ported turbo (currently) w/ 2.5" SV
782 head w/+1mm valves ported by Tyler Van Lant
2 piece intake ported by Tyler Van Lant
52mm TB
Mahle pistons (gasp!! )
'87 LM with cal by Rob Mercer
3 bar map
92lb/hr injectors
FWD Perf fuel rail
4-Play from Boost Button (going to run an e85 cal too)
Air/water IC from Frozen Boost
TI radiator
Oil cooler
Custom mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust with Dynomax Ultraflow
Turbo XS boost controller
AFPR
BOV is TBD. Thinking HKS.
Aeromotive fuel pump
IJ windage tray
Ported water pump and oil passage

Suspension:
Coil over front conversion with single adjustable Koni shocks
Coil over rear with Rancho adjustable shocks
Dual pivot k-frame and lower a-arms w/ stock C/S swaybar
Anything Johnny makes in terms of bushings is on the car
Still sorting out a strut bar. Thinking of something that attaches to the firewall.
Equal length axles

Trans:
Stock 523 (for now)

Brakes:
SLH2 (i.e. mini calipers, 91+ uprights, solid rears, big MC, Hawk front pads & Power Stop rear pads)

Wheels:
16" Pumpers (and I do have 2 sets, currently, but some are already spoken for and the rest are going on the car or are being kept for spares).

.... I've probably left stuff out.

Re: Official C/S Daytona Thread

Yay! My 88' Daytona CS. TI, unfortunately an automatic.
All stock except for computer. Boosts at 11psi w/ mopar performance computer.
HP unknown, torque unknown lol. But it must be better than stock.
Not an interesting car performance wise I know, but a pretty solid driver.

Excuse the ugly intake manifold that I've yet to repaint.

I know, I'm not sure why they turned out so big.

And don't mind those vac lines I just noticed. These were taken a day after I installed the boost gauge, so I redneck rigged them up.

Re: Official C/S Daytona Thread

Very nice! Keep it and take care of it. They were rare back when they were new.... today, finding one in good shape like yours is like stumbling upon a silver dollar at the beach: everyone wants to find one, but no one does!

Re: Official C/S Daytona Thread

Yeah the 88-91 CS cars are especially hard to find.

Oh, and I think I should upload this.

Redid the vac lines early this year. And removed the old A/C stuff in the spring. Looks a lot fresher than it did.
