It should be the checkerboard interior. Good luck. I also have an '84 Laser XE Turbo with that interior. I'm very fortunate in that the seats are in very good shape. That material is not available anywhere that I've looked...or anybody that I know of has looked.

As for the carpet, you can get new carpet for it through aftermarket companies. Try loking in Eastwood or JC Whitney. They actually use the same company...

Good luck!

They have a very wide veriety of colors. I'm sure you can find one that matches, or is so close nobody's gonna say anything...remember the carpet in the car is more than likely sun faded...so fins an area that's not so you can match to that. Also keep in mind the trim peices of carpet under the center console and on the doors are also going to be faded...so the new carpet may not match those exactly...unless you refinish or redye those parts too....

Just to clarify as many years ago I had a '84 Laser the color used was a one year color. They went to a darker red in 1985. There were 2 different types of seats too the base and the XE seats. Both had different fabric with the checkerboard on the XE seats a red with white pinstripe deal on the seats and door panels. I may have a set of the door panels in my dads garage if anyone is interested in them. I have a t-top '89 Daytona Shelby that I couldn't use them on anyway. I had warrantied a new pair of door panels in 1985 when the glue holding my panels together started peeling. But I kept the old door panels and they are in boxes in my dads garage.

The 84-85 G-bodies have the same shade of red interior. The only thing that was different was that the enthusist seats had a different fabric pattern(and door panel fabric), the seat latch is different, and slightly different bolsters. In 86 is when they changed to the darker red interior. I used to swap door panels armrest's and trim pieces from 85 g-bodies to my 84 and the reds matched perfect.
