Hey thought some induviduals may be interested in a possibly a good reason to replace both cores if your already replacing one (heater most likley) Took me a while to really get things going again as i took a break and bought myself a Wii and have been sidetracked

The obvious plus is the heater core is wider and just looks (and hopefully is) more efficient. Evaporater is much neater. Downside although it doesn't seem to be a big deal is theres no mounting plate on the evap. But it's snug enough in there and doesn't move on it's own it should be fine. I do plan on using something to plug up the opening around the piping

unfortunatly the neater looking evaporator is a serpentine style. They are not as efficient as the factory tube and fin design. They are cheaper to make and sell. I replaced the evaporator in my daytona last winter and it took me a while to find a fin and tube style evaporator. I finally did locate one on ebay for about 30.00. but when I did my van a few years ago I couldn't find one and ended up at the dealer for 300.00. I assume VT is Vermont? If so it might work out ok. Here in Florida I need all I can get most of the year. The extra fat heater core should work out good up there. Did you pull the dash out or did you sneak it out by taking the passenger seat out? Good luck with your project.

Yah i just pulled everything out due to a stinch from a mouse nest being in the air ducts.... But all is back together all but a few minor things.. weather is working against me here. Well thats a bummer about the evap core. Wonder if thats why it was cheaper. I bought it off autozone for 75$ one at the local Bond Auto was $130

75 bucks isn't a bad price most aftermarket are at least 100 and yes the serpentine are cheaper to make so they sell cheaper. When I did my search for an evaporator for my 92 Iroc R/T I spent 6 months looking for a plate and fin and didn't want to spend 200 at the dealer for one and finally lucked out and found an ebay auction for about 29 bucks. He had 5 I should have bought 2 or 3.

Did you get it back together yet? And did you pull the whole dash or sneak it out by pulling the passenger seat?

I pulled the whole dash this time around because of it needed cleaning and good thing i did cause i noticed cracks on the plastic where the main bolts on top hold it on. i fixed those (didn't want to chance vibration problems) I have just about everything back together. A few more wires and one or two loose air hoses then throw the steering column back in then the easy stuff.
