Not to state the obvious, but there is a hole on the one side. LOL, jk. I like it, are those digitally illuminated or are the just shaded. I think having the gauges like that, but with a digital style analog. May have to change out the ole Rampage's cluster out now.

they are Autometer Nexus gauges. I am running a full set in my GLH clone. Silly i know, 1 gauge cost more than the car! ( I bought the car from a truck driver for $200)

Oh, dont worry, I bought my 1983 Rampage for $100, and it cost me $500 just to pick it up. Plus you want to talk about crazy, I have dropped about $5000 into it atleast from putting a new front end and turbo 2 engine into the car. So here is to use crazy L-body fanatics. When there is money, there is a new toy for the car. LOL.

I dont like the pattern of the plastic though, and I'm not too good at painting. I want to cover the thing in black suede, or the cheap equivalent. might make it look kinda neat. cover all the holes up, too.

The benefit to converting to these gauges (as well as others) is you can lose the HUGE speedo cable from the trans. Autometer needs a little adapter to convert the signal to electric, all you run is a wire to the back. Hence losing the 8 foor tranny cable. hehe, tranny...

I swapped the guts from a 90 Omni cluster into my 86 bezel; it has a 100 mph speedo which is electric, and of course uses a very common OE sensor to trigger it; lost the speedo cable

however, I did also lose my oil P gauge, which I miss

others have swapped a P-body 125 mph speedo into L-bodies

I like the idea of loosing the speedo cable, but if you want over 85, why not go GLHS. Granted, it is a pain in the ass to get a hold of one, but a complete GLHS kinda "fell" into my hands about a year back, and it kinda merged together with my Rampage. It is just too bad the body of the GLHS had too much cancer and holes large enough to hide in.

P.S. Is the cluster installed yet? I want to see some pics of it in the car.

snip
you're kidding, right ?

sure I could just buy the speedo overlay decal and put it on my stock 85mph speedo; BAM instant "GLHS" speedo...

but that is SUCH a cheesy fix ; I cant believe the Shelby Automobiles came with that crap...

since I trap out at about 105 I am happy with the 100mph unit ; next Lbody gauge cluster I come across I am modding to put a Pbody speedo into

I'll work on pix... it looks pretty stock
