Just purchased a 87 GLHS. Drove her 735 miles home to the chicago area. The front seat recliner mechanism doesn't work on either seat. (sorta works on one seat) Cant tell if there stripped or not. Took the cover off one. I cant see anything that looks stripped or broken. Any ideas on ow this works and how to fix them? I'd hate to replace the seats with non CS seats.

Well you might get lucky and the bolts that hold the mechanism to the seat just came loose like they always do, however It seem most of the mechanisms break so the seat just flops around.

You can do like I did and use the seat recliner mechanism from any omni. I'm pretty sure all of them recline forward/back even though they are 4 door cars, just make sure beforehand. Mine reclines forward/back just like the original one, the only difference is on the original mechanism there's the metal release lever on the backside so when people are sitting in the back seat they can reach down and recline the seat forward to get out. The omni mechanism didn't have this, but if you have people sitting in the back seat they can just turn the recliner mechanism on the side anyway.

it's really easy to replace although you have to take out the seats and undue a few of the metal "clips" that hold the bottom seat fabric on so you can move it out of the way to get to the bolts that hold the recliner mechanism on there.
