89 Mini - cup holder and 3rd row seating questions

I have a couple questions about my 89 Mini. First, the cup holders are TERRIBLE! Has anyone come up with a clever fix for this?
Also, my van is a 5 passenger. How hard is it to add the extra seat? I can see that the anchors are missing (just depressions in the floor where they would be). Can the anchors be removed from another van and reattached without major surgery? Are there other unseen things that were different between the 5 and 7 passenger vans? Thanks!
