i want to put a hand brake style e-brake in my p-body. im thinking lever out of a neon? will the cables work too or will i have to find something else/ make some? are there any vehicles i can get cables from and just have them work after mounting the lever and cutting the holes? im just concerned about the ends of the cables if they will hook up right or not

thanks
nick

Im going to try and use the trunk pop from my civic that I murdered for the rear hatch. I dont wanna use the key to put fuel in the car. Much easier to make an interior lever. My car has a 12 gallon Jaz fuel cell in the spare tire location, so the fuel door and all that had to go anyway. sorry to hijack.

I don't know it that's going to be long enough...the civic ones are awfully short. Maybe a trunk cable from a shadow?

And about the e-brake cable...i would think that that would be long enough. You could go to a dealership or a junkyard and measure to see if it's close. You might also want to look at how the cable hooks up to the drums on both brakes and see how much/if any fabrication would be needed.

wow.... usually a hijack will at least be close to the topic. how is that even close to an e-brake set-up? lol

any certain years i should look for to get cables? or are they all the same?

Lol...i was thinking the same thing. They're both cables right?

As far as years go...you're going to have to guess and check. Maybe get some measurements off of your car and bring them in and compare them to what you have.

center console out of a neon (idk what year) complete with e-brake lever, shifter(its bent back a little makes it nicer to drive), shift boot and shift knob.
e-brake cables from the 90 daytona (thanks lotashelbys)

console came to a total of $40 with everything
cables were $11 each from AutoZone

dont mind the mess in the car

i'll get some more views later and some shots of the bracket i had to make for the cables.

its an autometer phantom spedo. I'm designing a whole cluster out of autometers. i sell a kit for autometer spedometers to be installed in these cars.

I'd definitely like to see the bracket. Never taken a neon apart, but I assume the e-brake bolts onto the floorpan somehow and then the console goes on over it? Any pics before the plastic console went on over it? How'd you install the e-brake handle? My center console is cracked and I'd love to have decent cupholders (not to mention the obvious 'no-crappy-floor-emergency-brake')
