gkcooper - your pms are full. What are you asking?

I read the early digis are different. Does anyone know the overall differences? The vid one is a later version, right? Early ones maybe had seperate oil/temp gauges always displayed ? (wouldn't matter really, I don't trust any of my factory senders, always checking my sunpros - cheap but effective, and small)

Yup the old dig dashes where different. When I had my Laser they only problem i had with mine was the lights on the tach would go out.

I loved the talking dash. It helped me once. I was driving back from a car show, it was around 50 degrees out so the car was running cool anyway i was running a constant 65mph for about 20 miles. Stoped at a red light and I heard a beep then "Please check your engine coolant level" pulled in a parking lot and sure enough one of the coolant lines sprung a leak. I don't think any of the voice alearts can really check the engine oil levels. My Laser had a supplment card in the owners manual that stated the voice alert no longer checks oil level, but was still on the systems check. I have only seen one Laser that had the special dipstick adapter that monitored the oil level. Has anyone else seen this too?

Mike, I thought that sensor was in the pan where that big plug was in the back of it? I thought they got rid of it due to it possibly springing a leak and causing the problem it was designed to detect!

Chris, I don't ever remember hearing that. I saw an 84 Laser at main street a very long time ago and the car had this strange ring mounted on the top of the dipstick tube with wires that came off of it with the dipstick in the middle. I heard one reason they got rid of it was because it was like a chinesee puzle to put the dipstick in if you decided to take it out. I remember that the build date on the car was late 83. I was an awsome color too, Mink brown with brown checker board interior. I'm going to look in the 84 FSM to see if i can find anything.
