hi folks,
i'm just about to get a pillar pod and gauges. i already got a cyberdyne a/f which is imho a good choice for any turbo'd car.
i use my daytona as a daily driver, i might raise boost in the future by some psi.
what would you suggest for the 2nd gauge? oil pressure, fuel pressure, boost&vac, water/oil temp?
how accurate are the stock oil press, boost&vac and water temp gauges?
thanks in advance
janus

Do you have a boost gauge already? EGT would be a good idea. Stock gauges aren't exactly stellar, but they work well enough.

thanks for your time.
no i dont have one yet, i was referring to the stock one. i dont plan to go over the fuel cutout, so probably max about 14 psi for now.
egt + a/f? how do i install the egt, i would have to tap the swingvalve right? not really fond of that, lol.
any other ideas?

If you aren't going too high, just an A/F gauge should be ok. Usually, the EGT probe goes in the manifold. It's a PITA, but it's better than an A/F gauge. The Cyberdyne is pretty tough to read; I like my Autometer much better. I guess if you just want to fill a hole without probing your manifold, an aftermarket boost gauge would be the best option. It's really the only factory gauge I question when it comes to accuracy.

dunno but my boost gauge seems quite accurate. shows 18 vac at idle, should be okay right? what about the importance of fuel pressure?
i got my cyberdyne a/f for cheap from howard on this forum.

The Cyberdyne is a great gauge, don't get me wrong. I just find them kinda hard to read. Trust me, you don't want pressurized fuel in your passenger compartment. Fuel pressure gauges belong on the cowl. It sounds like your stock boost gauge is ok, but from what I remember about them, they don't have very many #'s on them. I could be wrong, though. I'm out of ideas, besides an EGT.

hehe, ok got that. but i think the cyberdynes are all electric anyway. so you install a sensor in the engine bay and only route the wire to your gauge - afaik! yeah right the stock boost gauge only goes up to 15, but i won't boost really higher than that with that little mitsu anyway, and no plans on a bigger turbo right now.
i would like an egt but i dont think there is a way you can tap the manifold without removing the whole $hit again.
the stock oil pressure gauge should suffice as well, right?

Yeah, it's good enough. I guess I'm only familiar with the older style fuel pressure gauges. And, yes, you have to take apart everything again to put an EGT probe in. Unless, of course, you have a pet gremlin or something. BTW, what time is it in Austria?

13:19 your time is 6:19 my time. I work nights, so the day is kind of winding down. Hell, I don't really know the difference anymore. Usually, you tap into the fuel line & run a line to the cowl (the panel where your wipers mount). Then, the gauge is mounted in front of the windshield. I guess if it were me, I'd use a FP gauge like you mentioned. Hey, I know it's not Austria, but my brother-in-law is from the Czech Republic. He & my sister just came back from there. Last time they went, I think they may have gone to Austria, but I'm not sure.
