This might be stupid to ask, but could someone please explain the proper way to remove the black cover plate to gain access to replace bulbs (rear tail-light assembly) in the '87 / '88 Daytona's? It has the "expansion" tacks but when I gently tried to take an upholstery tool and pry up, the ends appear to look like they're going to fold up or snap off so I just stopped and have come in search of learning what the trick is to loosening these things without breaking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's been a while since I worked on one of these, but pretty sure those plastic tabs/clips (4) on the top will easily pop out with your fingers. Then, run your hand along the carpet parallel to the taillights and you will find maybe two or three phillips head screws that hold that panel to the body of the car (covering the taillight bolts). After that, make sure your tonneau cover hooks (if applicable) are also removed, and then gently wiggle it off.
