I need to strip the interior out of the parts car this weekend and I was curious if there's a trick to getting things like the A pillar covers and B pillar covers off without breaking the tabs on the back.

I haven't had the best luck in the past.

BTW it's a j-body LeBaron.

I am looking for gray interior trim for a J-body (1987-1989) LeBaron coupe hardtop. If you have anything please PM me before throwing it out. I am also selling tan trim if you're interested.

Well, the only experiance I have with a TD is my 90 and the "A" pillar trim is retained with push pins, if this is a 2 door the rear is all part of the rear quarter trim panel, which is another story all together. If this is the case, removal of the rear seats first will make it easier.
Removing panels that have clips into the body is always a pain, I go thru this all the time at work with newer Jeeps, they are so concerned with rattles/vibration that the panels are difficult to remove.
You need to locate the points were the clips are located and get behind the panel with a large tipped screwdriver or clip removal tool and twist right at the point where the clip is located to disengage it from the body.
If your 89 is similar to a 90 AJ I will post Chryslers removal procedure for you, it may show clip/screw location and may aid in removal.

Awesome, thanks man. After reading it I should be able to get everything off without busting up the tabs.

Good Luck.
That is why my headliner is not in yet(brand new Mopar, had it for 8 years) scared to death to remove the 2 rear quarter trim panels, do not think they will come off in 1 piece.

use a panel popper instead of pulling on the panel itself. you can get em on the tool trucks or at 'zone, advance auto oreilleys etc. if you do happen to break the mounting holes for the push clips apart , glue the mounting clip to the panel with a good 2 part epoxy. worked great for me when i had to fix another employees f-ups at the stereo shop

hi,
It is that simple! The surface that you see should relate to its surroundings ... you cannot see the outside surface from inside, nor can you see the inside surface from outside!
