this has been annoying the hell out of me for quite some time. the cupholders pop out from under the ashtray which means I can't smoke and drink at the same time, easily anyway. and sometimes I like to have a beer with my crack. anyway is anyone else as annoyed as I about this? Im curious if the 89 and lower cubby cup holder will work in the 90 since it curves at a different angle, and if so anyone have one or at least any bright idea's?

Hey its better than the sorry excuse for cupholders in the 1st gen. vans. They give the illusion of being able to hold a drink, but at only an inch deep they'll send any drink flying backwards regardless of how little you accelerate. There's nothing like having a large soda come flying back at you as you're trying to turn across 2 lanes of traffic.

How about this one...nothing but water is allowed in the car. Then if you spill it, no problem. :big grin:

I only do that because my friend won't let me do it in her Z3. It pisses her off because she doesn't think my charger is worthy of her rule.

No doubt. But my 90 and 92 Daytona's both have cupholders - they're the ashtray. They hold up to a large coffee, medium McDicks, or a can of pop just fine.

But its not like the newer ones are any different. My 2000 Sebring, the cupholders are directly in front of the shifter. Put a tall cup in, and you can't put the car in park without either hitting the top, or popping the lid. Add to the frustration that the 6 disk changer (in dash) is *behind* the cup holders, and try to figure out how you're ever supposed to even do this *stopped* (take the cups out, put it in park, pull out the cartridge, and reverse).

When you find the "designer" let me know - I have a special "Cup Holder Bat" ready :>

I removed my cupholder to keep passengers from thinking they are allowed to eat/drink in my car. Only I get to do that. I use the between the legs method, it's an auto so I always have a leg free. (I Don't drink coffee)

BTW you're still better off than my Cobra-the cupholder pulls out of the center console right where your elbow goes on a powershift-I've elbowed my drink into the back seat a couple of times. Luckily I only drink out of bottles with caps on them, but I've taken to putting them between the park brake and the seat...

Nobody eats or drinks in mine, not even me There are places for that, they're called home, bars, restaurants & rest areas. I guess that's why my 18 yr old interior still looks like this:
