Re: How to-12 Button Navigator Rebuild

Midnighttoker, thank you very much for stickying this. One question though. The part number you listed is for a 3.6mm high switch, while the two part numbers listed on the site are for 9.5mm high switches. Where did you come up with your part number? Have you used those switches? I'd imagine that the buttons would sit flusher with the navigator, though maybe more difficult to press.

Re: How to-12 Button Navigator Rebuild

I use 101-TS7311T1606-EV from mouser. To power up the nav to check functionality power the red, white, and orange wires to positive and the black and black with orange stripe to negative.

Re: How to-12 Button Navigator Rebuild

Do not know if this part was discussed but i found a quicker way to repair the buttons on the 12 button Trip Computer. it was quick and easy and no hot iron to deal with.
Just find and old Dish network remote and take it apart, rip the buttons off the rubber pad after the remote is taken apart. then remove the plastic buttons from the inside of the trip computer. after you have removed those plastic buttons grab one of the buttons off that old dish network remote and cut maybe 1/8 inch off the top and insert into plug hole. now you mite have to cut the top off just a little bit more but keep at it, after i re sized all 12 rubber buttons from the dish remote i put it back together and guess what all buttons work with no problems.
Try it out it mite be cheaper and easier then a hot iron and re soldering on the buttons.

Re: How to-12 Button Navigator Rebuild

Is always nice to have McGyver back! All the Goodwills in the neighborhoods are going to run out of remote controls stached in their electronic bins! Great advise! I was just wondering how to power these units up because I have a boat load of these 12 button units & one of them works perfectly, BUT I no longer have a RIDE to plug them into & test out! So, listed above here, is this how to power them up & check their functions?
