well for about a week my car has had the worst smell inside. i have no idea what it is. it just all the sudden came. it smells like a stink bug or somthing. today i was smelling around and it seems to be comming from behind the radio or somewhere in the dash. it almost smells musty like. i was figuring it was a dead bug or somthing under the top of my dash. but i pulled that whole cover off and looked around and even pulled the front tweeters out and i still dont know what it is. i shop vac'ed it out pretty good too. i now have alot of the trim off near the dash. ill be pulling out the radio and other stuff tonight to get a look behind it. anyone had anything similar?

my car smelled new just the other week and now it smells like ****

FOUND IT! behind the passengers side wheel the automotive silicone or whatever they used to put the peices together has cracked and theres a lil hole going through and its getting all the insulation under the carpet wet. right now the car is pretty much interiorless. anyone know where i can get the silicone from to fix this crack? thanks

Any auto parts store should sell it. It comes in a tube that can be put in a calking gun and is inexpensive.

Good Luck

I believe what you are looking for is called seam sealer. Many brands, just go to a auto body supply store and tell em you need some seam sealer.

Even better than silicone is urethane. You should be able to pick up a tube at an autoglass shop for around $10 or so. This is the same stuff that's used to install windshields.

anyone know of good ways to get that smell out of the car? the insulation and carpet no longer have the smell (steam cleaned, etc) its gotta be in my headliner or somthin because i can still smell it. (very faint tho.... still bothers me to no end!)

i tried that but havent tried oxy clean i dont think it would be any better than steam cleaning. its not the carpet that really smells anymore. its just kinda like lurking in the car. what would u guys used to clean the headliner? oxy clean?

its not oxy-clean. that guy is annoying enought to make me not buy that stuff. Its more like a little oxzone thing available at car stores. Ill ask my friend exactly what it was. He loved it.

That or the dead mouse and it's piss-soaked bed made from the hatch carpet padding that's stuffed under the rear passenger side interior panel that only your girlfriend could smell because you never sit in the passenger side of the car and the only smell you get while driving is the burnt oil smoking off the turbo through the rust holes in the firewall.
Oh, wait, that was my 86 Shelby Charger I pulled from a field.
