aftermarket front speakers...

Just wondering what people have done when replacing the door/dash speakers.
Pretty much all aftermarket speakers seem to be 4ohms, and putting them in parrallel drops them down to 2ohms, which is below what my head can handle.

Are there any good 8ohm 3.5/5.25 speakers around, or should i just ignore the dash speakers and only run the single pair in the doors?

8-speaker surround is pretty popular nowadays....
i wonder what those guys do?

I'll probably just take my chances running both speakers, and hope for the best. i can always turn down the power to the fronts if its gonna cause problems.
thanks for the input

I ran my Panasonic 583 deck at 2 ohms, had no problems. I ran memphis 3.5's in the dash, and memphis oversized 6.5's in the doors, in my Laser. I plan to run 8's in the doors on my Daytona, which will require some custom pods, I haven't gotten around to designing those pods yet.

You can also add a resistor to match impedence with the head unit.

have you tried it?
it would waste alot of power. It'd probably be easier just using a single pair in the setup.
i could always buy a small amp for the second set of speakers as well...i've got 3 preouts on my deck

I have done that on a home system. There is power loss but no degradation of signal. It is very simple to set up inline with speaker power wire.

Of course, the best solution is a seperate power amp as you proposed.

Just buy 5 1/4 separates. You know the 5 1/4 that comes with either a 3/4" or 1" tweeter has the little box that comes with it. I run JBL 5 1/4 with 1" tweeters and it sounds great.

I agree with the above comment, just get a good set of component speakers and be done with it!

you'll get the best sound anyways, and have the correct Ohm load to boot

forget the ones in the dash for imaging bes t is low and forward. ill agree memphis is the best imo the 5.25 pr series is about 100 bux and is better then sony kenwood or pioneer. the m class is a bit more but is components and coax's depending how u wanna set em up. both ways will keep corrects ohms ratings if u got the money get the m class 8's in a custom kick pod with a nice amp nakamichi zapco memphis the 8's in front solve bass up front issues staging imaging and almos the entire range kick drums are better guitars rock. my .02

just run the speakers in series or better yet, just buy a good set for the doors and forget about dash speakers.
