Shift Knob Question

I recently purchased a new one for my 5spd. And I went to go remove the one tha the previous owner put on (some pep boys POS blue aluminum shifter).

Well I cant for the life of me get this dawm knob off!!!! Is there a trick or soemthing... I have tried unscrewing it. Oulling it up.. Nothing works...

There was 4 little allen wrench screws that were holding it on.. I went a removed thoose but I still cant get it off.. Please help.

Maybe he used JB weld or something of the sort. I know I've done that on a number of cars. It's real annoying when the shifter keeps spinning, or you throw it into the back seat on a 1st-2nd shift. ;>
You might try a slide hammer. ;>

if it is like the dumb one the previous owner put on mine that gets 45000 degrees when it is in the sun...it has a collar that you unscrew at the bottom that is covering 3 or 4 allen bolts.

Just unscrew the collar at the bottom and loosen the allen bolts and it should come right off.

Ever want a short shifter...just cut it below the old knob "thumbs up
