Long ago I saw something about rewiring fog lamps so they can be turned on anytime, not just when the headlamps are on low.

I think it was something simple like running a new power source to the switch but I can't remember or find the article.

Anyone ever heard about this or done it?

Thanks, Mike

So you won't them to come on when you turn your parking lights on? Try to find a manual that shows what wire is the parking lights power source and t-tap it in. :big grin:

I can see what he wants to do. He wants to be able to turn on the fogs and just the fogs but without the low beams coming on, and doing this by using the existing fog light switch. I want to do the same thing since on g-bodies the headlamps pop-up but don't come on when you want just the fogs, really silly. Plus I want to put them down when racing at night on the track since I'm sure it causes some drag but I need light!

hope this helps some ...the 88 manual for daytonas you would need to cut the violet wire at the connector to the fog lamp switch and run a wire to the black yellow wire at the headlamp switch which should show power with the parking lights on ..

which car are you trying to do this on ??
the 90 daytona would be different and i can go look at my 90 manual tomorrow and see what would need to be done for a 90 daytona

you dont want to just tap a wire into the parking light source and run it to the fog light wireing without cutting the wire to the foglamp switch first and run the parking light source to the fog lamp switch only if you dont cut the wire the low beams would come on every time you turn your parking lights on ..
i wasnt sure if you meant to cut the wire or not so i fiqured i would clarify
"thumbs up

For clarification I want to be able to turn on the fog lamps no matter where the headlamp switch is, on, off, high, low, whatever.

By design the fog lamps only work now when the headlamps are on low beam.

Car is ’90 Shadow ES VNT.

ok i understand now youll want to take the 16 ga violet wire at your fog lamp switch and cut it and wire the end that goes to the switch to a constant source you can tap it into the pink wire at the foglamp switch ...

now also do you want them to be able to be turned on regardless of the igntion switch position????

doing what i described above will allow them to be turned on regardless of the headlamp postion but the igntion switch will still have to be in the run position ...
