If I were you, and you have complete interior, I'd neatly cut holes in the rear package tray, and mount a set of 6x9's in MDF boxes onto the bottom side of it. With speaker grilles, it'd look neat and tidy.

I personally would think that the rear package tray would flex too much by the time you cut out enough material to fit two 6x9's in it. What I did instead was cut a piece of 1/4 plywood to the same dimensions as the tray, cut speaker holes in it, and then covered it with some plush felt. It looks totally stock and the speakers look pretty cool. I used black light wieght chain in place of the elastic bands that raise the tray with the hatch and some decorative heavy duty tacks to hold the chain to the tray.

that looks nice walt. what ill probably do is cut holes for the speakers and mount the speakers underneath the board and run the fabric over the top and holes so it looks like theres nothing their. im trying to go for a nice, clean , stealthy look. i dont want my sh!t stolen again

Thanks. It's still not on the road yet, but I keep on trying. Any chance of you going to SDAC-14? I'd love to meet you and see your car in person.

Now that I think back to it, there was someone at SDAC-13 with an Omni with a license plate that said Omnivore! I knew it wasn't you because you said you weren't going and the car was the wrong color. Do you know who this is?

I cut 2 holes for 6x9's in my tray and it doesn't flex at all.
thats a good idea using the Plywood, but with all the extra weight of the plywood and chain will the lifts still hold up the hatch>??

The plywood isn't as heavy as you might think, and I used VERY lightweight chain. To be honest, the lifts on my hatch are dead, so I don't really know if they can hold it up. It's not that heavy, and I plan to replace the lifts soon so I'll let you know. But I don't think it will be a problem.

those lifts never seem to last long. I put a brand new set on my Omni about 6 months ago and they are dead allready
