spring? popped out from under passenger seat! ugh

I was vacuuming the car last night and when I tried to slide the seat forward a metal spring? Popped out from underneath it. Is this something that can usually be repaired or will I have to find another red leather seat?? I'll take a pic after I get off. Off the top of your head, does anyone know what socket I'll need to remove the seat to take pics?

does it look like a big honkin throttle return spring - coil with a hook at each end ?

that would be for the seat track release lever

I think the bolts / nuts should be 13 mm or 1/2 inch (same thing)

you may not get the front bolts out without snaping them
-if they don't want to turn , you can remove the seat from the track by the bolt at each corner instead though you may need someone to hold the seat up as you take the bolts out at the back as they will run down into the floor in some cases as you unthread them

That's what's sticking out from underneath the front of the seat. I couldn't rotate the pic from my phone sorry. I took the seats out a few months ago when I detailed the interior but haven't separated them from the tracks. Is it as simple as clamping that on the lever? If I need better pics I cam take them once i get home.

Also wanted to add that since that happened I can't slide the seat up, but it was working before that.

I believe the lever only releases one track stop - the spring runs to the other track to release it I think

I'm about to take and post a pic in a few. I loosened the front bolts and manually slid the seat up from the side of the track that isn't connected. tbc...

I'm having trouble loading the pic at the moment, but having it inside I can see where the hole for the spring is under the bigger spring on the left track. Thought I might have been missing something. I'll post a pic later for reference.

Why bother with pix? Remove the 4 nuts that hold the seat to the floor pan, take it out of the car and re-install the spring! You might want to make sure that both tracts are set the same(side to side+front to back) before re-installing too, Jer

Lol there was 2 nuts and 3 bolts.. I was just going to post pic later so anyone in the future that has the same problem can see. I didn't see the hole it went in originally and seeing the one that wasn't being used, I assumed I might have lost a part. Once I saw the right hole in took me 5 mins to fix and reinstall.

A fat guy owned my GLHS and hogged out the hole for the front seat, also broke all the welds on the front seat and its brackets. I ended up with a new seat and a 3/8 drive socket to hold it in lol. In my case the car requires welding. They may have just added the bolt when something came loose.
