would it be cheaper for me to do the headliner myself or have someone do it. if i would have someone do it i would take the headliner to them out of the car. that should bring the price down. if it is cheaper to do it myself, how much would headliner fabric cost? i know good glue will cost me along the lines of $20.

it is a tan headliner from a 90 shadow 4 door with a sunroof.

thanks, shane

It cost me about 15 bucks to do my headliner myself.

I used a can of 3M Super 77 (about 8.50) and got a couple yards of vinyl from the fabric store (about 4:50). Thats it. It was easy as cake.

The trickiest part of you doing it yourself would be getting the board out of the car.

I took my headliner board (still had old liner on it) to the shop and it cost me $45. Normally $69. Hell $45 is well worth it for me. With $20 in material and then Glue and the hassle of taking off the old. It's well worth it.

I was going to do Vinyl but it shows are the imperfection of the board and you really have to clean the board.

I sanded the board down first and it turned out really good. I did forget to take a staple out near the back and you can see is if you look.

It still looks really good though because its the same shade as the vinyl on the seats, and it fits perfectly with the light gray/dark gray scheme.

Man that's what I wanted...THe guy talked me out of it. I think because for $45 he didn't want to do to much work. I love Vinyl headliners they are so easy to clean. I have one in my Type R Stock and used to smoke. You could just wipe it off.

My headliner is stapled on. Staple gun headliner jobs run in my family. Guess I should redo it. I saw at Pep Boys they sell the exact gray color I need for pretty cheap.

The most obvious is to remove either the windshield or the back window, or very carefully manuver it out a door.

I redid the headliner myself in my SC, it was really easy and looks great. I suppose that if you dont have the know how, then it would probably be easier to have it done for you. It was pretty easy though

If you don't have the know-how, do it the first time and learn. I had never done one before and it took me a couple hours. Just go slow and you should be fine.

Anyways, I would rather have it be cheaper and have the satisfaction of doing it myself.

There are more then a few websites out there showing how to replace your headliner!

Here's mine for example, and if it's too vague do a search and you'll find a couple more!

I took mine out of my Shadow (hatchback) and a shop did it for $40.00.

He said he couldn't cut the sunroof hole out because it had to be done in the car after it was installed. It was a pain in the ass because there is not a lot of room for error. You also have to find the holes to install the sunvisors and coat hooks.
