Im here to just test the waters and see if any of you would be interested..
This could be a group buy for a full legnth A piller guage pods for the 2 door L body car owners.. I believe all of the cars listed below share the same exact interior trim piece..
This would include all of the 2 door L body cars ranging from 1979 - 1987 Charger, Charger 2.2, Shelby Charger/GLHS (turbo and non-turbo), Rampage, Rampage 2.2, Omni O24, Horizon TC3, Scamp, Scamp GT, Detomasso O24, Tourismo, Tourismo 2.2..
Basically any vehicle that sits on this basic platform that looks like or simular to these cars pictured below..
Im willing to coordinate a group buy and take on the responsibility of accepting the buy in money, sending in a test piece for them to customize and test fit, test this on my vehicle for fitment, report updates, post pictures and if all goes well, send all of you your new full legnth A piller pods..
I made my own a little while ago for my 87 GLHS using an "add on" style that www.FWDPerformance.com sells..
I think It looked great, but I knew of a few little imperfections and im a bit of a perfectionist.. Here are a few pics of how mine turned out..
heres my page on it.....
http://www.hometown.aol.com/chargerturbo/guage.html
heres the site that does this..
Please read the details on this site.
http://www.gaugepods.com/custom.html
Post if your interested and Ill see if its feasible to persue..

Hey Clay.. Im shootin towards a full panel replacment..
Im tryin to avoid an overlay setup with this full trim style so that other than the people having to color match it to their interior.. It'll be no biggie..
As to Lead time, Im not intirely sure what you mean? Production time?
I think it had a rough mock up schedule listed on their site, this will take some time.
This will require some patience, good thing is that they will have a mold to produce more for future intheusists after the intial group buy..
heres what the site stated for production time for a custom piece..
------
 Quote:
|
PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:
Rough mock-up will be made and sent to project leader. Project leader test-fits mock-up - checking for clearance problems and angle of gauges. Project leader returns the mockup with any modifications and approves the design.
Mold-making process - approx 4-5 weeks
Initial production run - approx 3-4 weeks
Finishing and shipping - approx 1 week after product availability.
*******IMPORTANT********
PRODUCTION SCHEDULING IS COMPLEX AND DELAYS ARE NOT UNCOMMON DUE TO THE NUMBER OF PROJECTS AHEAD OF YOURS, MATERIAL LEAD-TIME, ETC. WE DO OUR BEST TO PROVIDE A RESONABLE ESTIMATE OF DELIVERY TIMES - HOWEVER, WE CANNOT GAURANTEE A DELIVERY DATE.

This would be for a 2 guage pod.. 3 is a bit excessive IMHO
If ya ever wanted to run another guage, I would just block off the vent on the left side of the dash and add an additional 2 1/16 guage there..
What I did for this was take the vent out.. carfully pry out from the edges
I laid it faceing down on some plastic and traced the outter edge out..
cut with my trusty dremel tool, gutted out the vent so that just the part that would click into the dash was intact. Glue the panel to the now gutted vent. Then using a piece of a sponge, I blocked off the vent behind it.. Most of us are just runnin the awesome Dawes Devices a/f meter..
Very nice unit..

you could prob. put both my bro. and i down for one for each of us... three gauge spots would becool to have though - boost, a/f, and oil temp? in my opinion, cause i wouldnt want to take out that vent
but as long as its a complete a-pillar replacement we'd be game, hopefully it will come in the factory gray color and all
but how much are we looking at here for these? please let us know, this will be cool though! i was hoping you put up a post for DC floormats or center console armrests! lol...

We have got a list goin... anyone else?
This is for all L body 2 door (cars AND trucks)..
This will replace the intire A piller trim piece , not just a tack on or half setup..
All factory attachment points, direct fit..
This will house 2 guages that are 2 1/16
(two and one sixteen inches diametor)
as for cost, this isnt in stone yet because I havent sent the stock trim for the estimate.. they said that full trim replacment pieces start at about $39.. So HIGH estimate $60 - $80 each...
They will come in a factory textured look but in black to keep the cost of the pieces down.. Interior colors are easy to match, so thats not an issue..
So this is what im coordinating and shootin for..
if your interested, just email me with the subject title "Group Buy"
In the email please include:
your first AND last name
your telephone number
your email address
and how many you would like to purchase..
example:

Then all you have to do is simply send it to my email address
PentastarTurbo@aol.com
This places you on a list..
When the project is a go, Ill email or call you so you can send the payment to me so I can forward this to the company that will be producing these..
This will require some time and patience..
They currently have other projects ahead of ours and this could take a couple of months approximatly
So speak now
I feel as though im a very repuatable person on here and on Team Omni, Rampage Runners and the SDML list..
Im not makin any money on this, I just want to get some cool things made for our cars and I need everyones help to get us there..
Im not rich, nore do I have the resources to just front the money strait up..
If your interested, please let me know..
If I cant envoke enough interest.. these wont happen for a while till someone else steps up to the plate to coordinate this venture..
Im willing to be your "project leader" to get thigns rollin..
If nothing comes of this group buy, I'll be spendign a few hours makin another one of these for my Rampage..
So lets see what we cant do here..
Posting to this post wont get ya on the list, Im goin strictly off of emails..
That way if TD.com is glitching, I'll know.
Sorry for the incoinvenience
thanks a bunch

I like it, but disagree on the 3 guage not being necessary. I live in FL, and blocking off a vent is NOT AN OPTION! Not to mention it look ghey, if you have other gauges actually mounted!
Figure EGT, boost, and A/F at a minimum. EGT optional, but could just as easily be replaced by an actual oil pressure gauge. 3 pod should be offered as well. If so, put me down, otherwise, I'll be making my own 3 gauge

Its alright to disagree and in some cases your right.. What if the person has 5 guages he wants to mount? Well, im just goin with the most common setup and it worked well for me.. I was in Texas for a while and had my guage in the vent..
at a 100+ and 98% humidity, with the a/c on.. it was perfect for me. I rarely went the the highest setting.. This was in my 87 GLHS (car pictured w/pillar pods) I wasnt finished (or even started) with the vent pod, Ill try and find pictures of this later on. if one were to vent aroudn the guage and not block it off, it could still function just fine..

is there anyway you could get both a dual pod and tripod pillar made? or could we even have a vote on it? i apprecite you coordinating this and all and hope that you dont feel i am bashing your intentions, but i'd rather have three on the pillar than take out a vent, it would make things very organized

DC Turismo:
To do both a triple pod and a double pod.. they need a minumim of 30 per type to get those started..
ShelbyLovinFool:
If you've taken the opertunity to take a gander at most of the products on the site that makes these, lots of these look right at home as a stock interior deal.. Ive only seen a few that looked funky, but thats because the cars they made them for are odd and awkward to mount these..
----------------new subject----------------
There doesnt seem to be anything that will please the majority of people.. When something "custom" or "one off" is offered, it seems as tho everyone wants more or something else.. Nobody seems to want to step up to the plate and make it happen as im attempting to do.. I dont appreciate the child like private messages from the people askin for a triple pod setup.. and after my responce going the route of a 7 year old child not getting their way and resourting to name call or downplaying what im trying to do here..
This post is all about a "dual" full pillar pod trim replacement .. if you want a triple pod... start your own group buy.. If you want a triple pod.. your responding to the wrong post.. theres nothing I can do for you.. Dual pods only so far.. the majority has spoken and they want duals.. Ive had 3 people tops askin for triples.. 30+ for duals.. 22 so far have commited to buy on my tally sheet..
same rules apply,
if your interested, just email me (ONLY) with the subject title "Group Buy"
Reasoning for email only is that turbododge.com sometimes goes on the blink..
In the email please include:
your first AND last name
your telephone number
your email address
and how many you would like to purchase..

Then all you have to do is simply send it to my email address

Im not making any money on this.. Im donating my time and money for the purchase of a stock trim piece, doin the footwork to make sure all the years listed above are interchangable (and they are) shipping said stock trim piece for the estimate and prototyping process to get things rolling.. I think it would be nice to have a cool interior piece that also serves a purpose for gauge viewing that cleans up the interior and brings some "NOW" styling to our aging L bodys...
Im just here to help..
thanks..
