The perfect Paint Job x 2.
Brief history: when I purchase this Omni in 1997 it was in fair untouched condition for a 12 year New York car. Naturally faded factory paint with the regular dents and dings (not to many). The first paint job was suppose to be a easy 1-2-3 spray over. "Cheap job", good materials but soft labor. After being pushed around by the madcanic and sitting way to long at his shop you can just image the damages the car was getting. Real unprofessional care!
I had to redo and repair the whole entire vehicle from from to back. I had the car stripped down to its bear metal, totally disassembled and detailed. Spending twice as much as I did before to get the ride back to show room glory.
On a scale of 1-10, I'll give it a 8" really almost a true 9 but all of the window seals and glass rubbers needed to be replaced. New door jam moldings could be changed too. So to conclude the second paint job came out much better for the Omni over all. 7qt PPG Jet Black, 5qt clear coat, power-coated front and rear bumpers and a new windscreen. They say the 3rd times is a charm.
I have plans for the 3rd a final job because there will be a few modifications to the body: Customize (blow-out) the fender wells to fit the 17 x 8 inch rim & tire package.
Nip and tuck front and read bumpers (removing side rubbers), customize front factory spoiler and add a (touring car) slitter, add front fender side marker lights, replace all original factory decals.
*specialty item: Strengthen hood (Omni's hoods have the tendency of leaning to the weaker side because of the hood rod) I will fabricate a automatic hing system to support hood opening. Show piece.
You might say why would anyone do so much work to these cars? My answer would be
"To do what has not been done before, to a car that should have been never forgotten"!
"Lets make the Omni great again".
See you at SEMA :-)

The 20 yr build
I was introduced to these cars over 20 yrs ago when I became a semi retired race driver. I thought the cars was very unique in a special kind of way. I stated out with a 1985 rally version (non turbo) and it perform like it was bullet proof. Then on the track, I was beaten by a turbo version of the Omni and I became very determined to own and build one of my own. I bought a second Omni and it was the official 1986 Shelby design GLHS in black.. The experience became an obsession to get it track worthy. I had the hellafied experience of messing with the wrong mechanic and was played by their inexperience and amateur behavior which cause that car to be totally destroyed and robbed of all its good essential parts. But then I had learned a lot from my bad experiences and took total charge of getting it right. I bought a third Omni 1985 and it was very clean but only a GLH T version. I made the best of it from the left over parts and put everything into it less the kitchen sink, and it has become the monster build. "OMNOUS"
I am very impressed with the end results after seeing it run and create over 400 hp on the dyno. Strong, sounds mean and very clean looking car. Sadly again the tech-mechanic push it to far stating the motor could handle 600 hp easily (even though he didn't build the engine from scratch) and blow out the piston rings.. Blow- by.. it broke my heart and I just garaged the car for years.
Presently I am ready to get back into the project and get it right this time no matter what! New rings and crank bearings and back together again. 400 hp is good enough for me anyway.. I'm not a drag racer, I'm a road and track driver (auto cross) and that's the set up it comfortable with.. drag racing brakes part all the time..
There are a few major items I do not like about the car and the main thing is the fwd business end of the car.. it sucks. Not fun with all the under steering and all over the place front end. Awd is the greatest design for most cars, and that my biggest dream for this project.. to make it better. Lastly the Omni has this love it or hate it look. I need to create the love it all day look. A better body kit , wheel fender flair , ect.. what ever it takes to get it right. That's my story and I happy to share it with true car guys who take the time to read this story..
In Honor of Carlos Martinez I am full inspired and recharged to work with his design concept AWD set up for the GLHS. I think he nailed it and re-engineered the GLHS the way it should have been from the factory. I bet Carol Shelby would have applauded this design upgrade.
Thanks "Carlos Martinez"
Lets make the Omni great again!
Next I will share with you the build sheet.

This is the best of the best that Chrysler and Mercedes collaboration produced. One of the great all purpose SUV performance machines of today.
This vehicle has so much potential that many over look. (Plz note)- I am not a fan of what Chrysler recently release 2017 version of the Pacifica. It reminds me of the Town & country mini van.
The main reason I choose the Pacific is because it was not a over-sized SUV or a Mini Van. It was a all-n-one mean machine. Drives like dream, handles like a performance car. Different then the rest, Mopar performance with a touch of European engineering. "AWD" can't live without it!
Take a look at what I am present upgrading and restyling.
Just a few little tweaks needed to make this vehicle a thing of perfection. The manufacturer realize this vehicle need a little more power, that is why they went to the 4.0 motor in 06, but what it really needed is a turbo or super charger or both in the same 3.5. No one loves the gas station!
I am a happy owner of a 2015 AWD 3.5 touring package Pacifica (with all the bells and whistles) from its delivery to present. I am working on upgrading the stock 3.5 NA engine to a Super Charged 500 hp engine. Restyling the bodies design and suspension/brakes.
Special Thanks to the Oblivion 6 owner for leading the way by example. The proof is in the pudding!
Take a look,
