SBEC problems

Cindy, I don't know if you remember me, I think the last exchange we had was right after Karen died.

I am trying to resurrect my T2K-CAR LeBaron konvertible, the one that was totaled Feb 2009 by an ML320. I kept the powertrain but wanted to upgrade the electronics from the LM/PM 1987 Daytona setup I was running. I want to go to an SBEC and had bought a used socketed one from Simon (turbovanman). Between possibly having something wired wrong despite being careful, I apparently damaged that one, and another used one I bought. I picked up another and very carefully, after doing an initial op check to verify it would turn on the ASD on power up and then with a spare distributor turn it on and fire the coil, I peeled back the potting and removed the eprom (87C257) and installed an Aries Electronics ZIF. Now neither the eeprom or my custom one from Rob Lloyd will operate the system.

Do you sell socketed SBECs? If not, can you recommend anyone?

Re: SBEC problems

Update on this, signsoflife22 offered to socket a 1991 Shadow 2.5L turbo SBEC in trade for a 1989 2.2L TII SMEC I had acquired before I decided to go to the SBEC. Here are some pictures of the finished SBEC, I put the inside cover off the bad socketed SBEC on it as it has the Chip ID on a sticker. The first picture, the shiny plastic tape reflected the light more than I thought.

The ZIF socket is a low profile with short levers on the ends to open/close the terminals, it is also short enough it doesn't interfere with the battery temperature thermistor.
