how to tell difference between 91 and 92 ecu

I have a 91 RT ecu and 92 RT ecu sitting in a box and I don't know which is which anymore. How can you tell the difference between them?

Yes there will be if he opens them up. The EPROM on the lower right will have a part number sticker on it, also the 91 is SBEC and the 92 is SBEC II.

SBEC I and II look the same from the outside. Need to open the case and get the chip number.

Re: how to tell difference between 91 and 92 ecu

here are the Mopar #s for these....if these appear on the outside of the SBEC then you can tell what year it is

1991 4639393 A Body 16 valve
1992-93 4714343, 4672283, 4672167 A,G body 16 valve (multiple #s as there was superseded #s)

Thanks for the responses guys.We couldn't make out the part numbers so we counted the pins on the chip and when we were pretty sure Bradd cut the rubber out and soldered in a new socket for me.

One of the biggest change they made between 90-91 SBEC and 92-95 SBEC 2, is the cruise control is multiplexed in the later system, VS a separate wire for Set/Coast and Res/Acc. Plug it in and test it there will be a couple mishaps. But the wiring isn't far enough off to do any harm.
