Csx-t #978

Just picked up my first TD last weekend. I'm looking forward to learning what I can and having fun with the car. I've owned mostly Dakotas, Rams, a few Hemi cars and one SRT4 so I am lost when it comes to modding this thing lol. From what I can tell, it is basically stock with a hacked up manual boost controller installed. If there are any of you guys around Alabama, maybe you can give me some advice where to start. I've attached a pic of her in all her faded glory lol

Get the vacuum lines in order. You can buy new nylon lines here:

100ft rolls are cheap and they'll last you the lifetime of your car even if you're re-doing them every couple of years. I'm always modding my stuff so I usually have to re-route them a couple of times while having the car. You'll need 5/32 and 1/4" Should look something like this in the end:

After that a wideband setup would be next to make sure you have adequate fueling. I usually go with either an Innovate motor sports or AEM wideband. I've been looking at the Innovate SCG-1 over the last couple days and for $250ish off ebay it gives you boost control as well as the ability to pull boost if you go lean. So while it's a bit more expensive it can save the motor if something bad happens.

Now you can start with the fun stuff. 1st would be to get it intercooled. Lots of different ways to do it. The 1st gen Cummins dodge i/c fits pretty easy and is large. If you wanted a higher performance ic I'd look at treadstone.

Then it's time to upgrade to at least a stock T2 garrett but would probably look for a Super60 Garrett instead depending on your power goals. I'd port the exhaust manifold while swapping turbos and upgrade to a 2 piece intake as it makes the motor rev smoother and will give you some more top end. Then you'll want 3" exhaust to go on it. FWDP or TU make kits.

by then hopefully someone will be making flashable SMEC's again and you can get into tuning the car yourself. Though there are other ways to tune it via the ECU but that's just the easy way. The sky is the limit. Need to figure out a power goal. 200hp/280ft-lbs at 12psi is what my 2.5 car made the only time I ever had it on the dyno. Was great on the street with enough torque to beat a lot of stuff. I ended up around 20psi and that just get's you into trouble way to easy so I ran it about 13 most of the time which would pull on modded SRT4 Neons.
