Re: Richmond Virginia TD Thread

Nice. Sorry I couldn't make it. I ended up needing to help a buddy with his Jeep on Saturday and we didn't get wrapped up until around 3.

As a recap for anyone finding this later, last week was the Mopar Madness at VMP car show/racing event. We had a lot of locals show up: me, TurboWookie, and Chris L. in Daytonas, Johnny and his son in a GLHS, Edwin in his Spirit R/T, and Robert in the Reliant coupe. Chris L won for 90 and older FWD stock with Johnny coming in second. Edwin got 2nd in 91+ misc. (I think that was the class). Overall, it was a pretty good time.

Hey Evil. Is there any way I could get in touch with the guy that did the auto trans swap on my 86 Daytona? Want to see if he has any of the parts left for the manual trans.

I don't know who did the conversion. I sold it to a guy that got it running. He sold it to a guy that did the swap. Then it was sold to another person before you I think. It's unlikely the parts for it are just sitting around anymore by this point.

Hey guys long time no see! Only way I can get online lately is with my phone which is very annoying. I have an update on my TD situation.. my friend backed into my LeBaron in his driveway, big ugly dent but still driveable, $2,675 check from his insurance co. & I got to keep the car. Not many LeBarons to choose from on Craigslist but, as luck would have it, I found a 1989 Chrysler TC with the 2.2 TII just the SOHC option, of course. It runs & shifts beautifully, had to drive it 2 hours home from where I bought it & had no issues. Needs a paint job & some interior work but overall it's not bad & I am loving this rare gem!

Re: Richmond Virginia TD Thread

Very nice! I'm out in Varina now too. Haven't seen you cruising around in it yet. That's a pretty rare car you have there. Good luck with it and let us know if you need parts or anything.

FYI, the Sports Car Workshop on Boulevard in Richmond had 2-3 TCs on their front lot a couple months ago. I would have taken a picture but it was night and the lighting there is terrible. They were gone when I went back over.

Re: Richmond Virginia TD Thread

Joe, did you ever get the manual swap done on your '86? What parts are you missing? Chris and I have a ton of stuff. We might have what you need.

Re: Richmond Virginia TD Thread

Forgot to post here. There's an 88 Shelby Z in the Richmond CAP yard. It's pretty far gone. T-top car with a busted window. Interior is trash. Lots of rust. Suspension is cheap Monroe replacement stuff. Wheels are gone. I got the SMEC and the intercooler stuff. The engine is an 88, but it doesn't have the original intake or valve cover, so who knows if it's a true T2 or not. The 555 is still there but the shifter is rusted up tight.

There is also a 90 V6 Spirit ES and a 93 TBI Sundance. The Spirit is trashed. The Sundance is decent. I grabbed a few parts off of it for Alan, but it looks like many of the engine parts are new-ish.

And finally, there are 2 PT cruiser turbos. One already had the drivetrain pulled. The other was still intact as of this afternoon.

Re: Richmond Virginia TD Thread

Junkyard updates:

CAP Richmond still had the 88 Shelby Daytona last week. Drivetrain was still in there, 555 and all. Probably getting crushed this week if it hasn't been already. Real shame. They also just got an '86 LeBaron in. I have not looked at that yet. There was a PT cruiser turbo near the front. And, there were 3 AA body cars, all with V6 engines. There is also a Conquest, but it's just a shell basically. Driveline is entirely gone. Interior is very worn. It did have a Grant GT steering wheel though.

CAP Ft Lee has an '85 turbo LeBaron convertible. Digital dash. Can had an injector leak which resulted in a small engine fire. The rail and injector harness are trash. The rest of the engine appeared okay. Interior is rough. Top is shot. Not much else interesting about it.

Pop's has a TBI LeBaron J body coupe. I saw a picture of the car, but haven't been myself yet. Looks pretty rough.

As an aside, I may have a line on a turbo-swapped Rampage. Anybody looking for a project? I can make some calls.
