1988 Daytona Solenoids

Can someone show me how the solenoids on a Daytona are supposed to look like? It's a T2.

Re: 1988 Daytona Solenoids

Welcome To TD!!!

88 has three solenoids, Baro, Wastegate and Purge.
They are located in front of the right side (passenger) strut tower.
The wastegate and purge are combined solenoid assembly, the baro is separate.
You can find the baro by following the vacuum line from the Map Sensor it should be a standard 3 port universal solenoid.

All solenoids have three ports, vacuum/pressure in, vacuum/pressure out and a vent that remains open.

The only illustration I have for the "dual vacuum" wastegate/purge solenoids is in the Chrysler Parts Catalog (link is posted below, post 41 has working links)

Thank you guys for the information. So the car wont start and the the code its sending out is fault code 36 could the issue be that the wastegate door is stuck open? From what I can tell the everything for the selonoids are where they should be.

Re: 1988 Daytona Solenoids

Only the Baro Solenoid could possibly create a "no start" issue if it did not allow any vacuum to the Map Sensor, the wastegate solenoid would only create an overboost or no boost condition, it has absolutely nothing to do with the car starting and running.

If you have a no start condition follow the instructions in the thread link below and post back.
(If after rechecking fault codes all you get is the Code 36 then continue with the diagnostics)

Re: 1988 Daytona Solenoids

So I was looking over the wires and vacuum lines and found this 2 wire plug. Do you know where this goes?

Re: 1988 Daytona Solenoids

that should be for the intake charge temp sensor that should be at about the middle of the front of the intake - where the rectangular connector is in your pic

or it would be .. if the engine I were looking at were a TII but by the air cleaner box and hose to the throttle body in front of it .. I see a turbo one engine
that would not even have the bung on the intake drilled and threaded for the sensor to go in
only a TII would

what is your car ?

Re: 1988 Daytona Solenoids

then it's been "fixed" at some time over thirty years
could be a TII that had an intercooler leak

could be a manual to auto conversion

you'll have to look deeper into the car to see exactly what you have as many have been cobbled to hell to keep them going .. and THAT's not always a bad thing

two unused tabs anong the front edge of the crossmember right behind the diff would mean there WAS a 5 speed trans there once upon a time
