can someone advise me please.
since today my hatches does not get open.
if i manually open them and then switch the light to off, they will close.
can that be an repair issue on the motor or perhaps an ralay orso.
yes, lamps go on but not the doors.
also, when i stop the engine and not put the lights out, the doors close after 2 minutes but the lights stay on.
lucky i found out about that.
Since the headlamps do illuminate we know the problem is not with the switch.
Your problem is most likely with the headlamp door relay module located on a brace by the steering column.
Usually the issue is cracked solder joints on the printed circuit board.
One of the ways to check this is to turn the headlamps on and squeeze/twist the module and move the connector around to see if the doors open.
Do that first and we will go from there.
Here is a pic of the relay module. Part #4373531 Fits 90/91 Daytona/Lebaron
I am on my way out but you can start by checking to be sure you have power in and out of Fuse #3 in the interior fuse block.
When I get back I will post the Body Diagnostics for "Headlamp Doors Will Not Open".
in the event you need parts remember the lebaron and daytona differ in that the lebaron has one center mounted headlamp motor and daytonas have 2, a motor on each door
so if you need physical parts they have to come from a lebaron as only the module and switch interchange
- even some people here aren't aware so I post noting your location and that you may not have a daytona to compare to
The BCM controls the ground side of the relay module which supplies power to the headlamp motor(s) for 2-3 seconds for the motors to open/close.
Unfortunately the first step in diagnostics is to connect the DRB 2 (Chrysler Scan Tool) to the CCD Bus Connector and access the BCM.
Since you do not have access to a scanner to access the BCM and the headlamps do illuminate when they are turned on we will have to assume that the headlamp doors did not open/close when the headlamp door test was performed with the DRB.
You can verify that the headlamp switch is not the problem by swapping the switch pod from your donor car.
altho the switch pod was not working yesterday, i retried it again today and now the doors do lock and open.
i assume the connector was not properly connected.
strange issue is automaticly close doors after engine shut down.
that is not working as it should be, but when i shut the engine down and i push the headlightswitch just once, the doors close and the lights stays on and close after 2 minutes.
did i explain this well?
If the issue of the doors not opening happens again push up and in on the switch pod by the headlamp switch with the headlamp switch on to see if that corrects the problem.
If it does your issue is with the headlamp switch, the headlamp switch, T/S switch and wiper switch are high failure items due to cracked solder joints on the printed circuit boards from constant expansion/contraction.
If you have good working switches hold on to them, they are discontinued and finding switches that work is difficult.
Hold onto any faulty switches you have, you may have to attempt to repair one someday.
I was only able to diagnose and repair one headlamp switch (faulty ground circuit on the board) and it is still in use in my car today. (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!).
Yes, the switch sends signals to the BCM to open/close the doors for headlamps on/off, flash to pass and to keep the doors open with the headlamps off (This would be used for changing the sealed beam, the parking lights will remain on)
That is why the very first thing in the diagnostics was to connect the DRB2 and perform the Headlamp Door Test.
If the doors opened/closed using the DRB it lead to Test 69 which is the switch test.
When/If the headlamp doors do not operate properly it can be caused by the Switch, Relay Module, BCM or Any Wiring/Connectors In Between.
I do not remember, was a couple of years ago.
Other than the repair I made which is the ground circuit I do not remember what the other wires were, I did figure out what each terminal of the headlamp switch connector was and wrote that down.
You would have to follow each circuit from the headlamp switch connector back to figure out what each wire/circuit is.
okay, thanks, but also was a dumb question.
i was easy to messure it with multimeter.
today i resolder all the prints and lights and turnlights working perfectly. (lot off solderpoint where loose or damaged.
also the little pins in de connector has beeing refurbished today.
but .... no autoclosing headlightdoors after shut down engine. Except ..... when i take the headlightbuttonmodule (pfff) out, the doors close after 30 seconds.
so the queeste continues.
i keep you posted.
