Dang bro good to see you're still making progress! As for photo hosting, I've been using imgur for years, works perfectly, just post to hidden and use the direct link!

Donnie,

Good to hear that you're still progressing. I can sympathize with your delays, as my Daytona has fallen 2 years behind, with no finish in site.

As for the pics, I have found that we can post them to TurboDodge's server by using the "Go Advanced" option. I took a few attempts, but I finally figured out how to do it. The best part is that you'll never have to worry about losing your pics to a 2nd party's change of policy.

Re: 1987 GLHS#0896 Project log

26 Feb 2018
So, just to update the log....
I have set completion dates from when I first started this build log. And hereís the FINAL DATE!!!
The 2018 Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle, PA. July 13-15, 2018
Also known as
ďChrysler at CarlisleĒ
For those that donít know, itís simply another car show with all the vendors and special cars on display; ALL Chrysler.
I have spoken to SDAC, and weíre trying to get all of the TurboDodge guys that will be coming with their cars to list their club affiliation as SDAC, so we will hopefully be positioned together on the grounds for the show.
Needless to say, itís a big show, and to be a part of it is going to incredible!!!

So, where am I at with the boostaholic agenda?
Hereís a couple pics from yesterday:

As anyone can see, I have a long way to go.
However, everything is there, I just have to assemble it. lol
At the moment, I had to disassemble my custom radiator support to rebuild the L/F corner. It was off by just a touch from the right side, and with the hood pins being secured to this piece, they have to be exact.

FYI: All factory hood latches/cables/etc, are SOL) lol

So, now that Iíve finally figured out how to update the log with pics using my iPhone, there will be more consistent updates.
BUUUUTTT; thereís a TON of work to do, so I donít know how much time Iíll actually have to update it. But I will try.

Thank you for checking in.
Thank you for your prayers.
And most of all, thank you for all of the support and HUGE favors Iíve been blessed with thus far.

If you happen to need any factory parts, PM or Facebook message me. I have like one or two of everything for S/C.

Re: 1987 GLHS#0896 Project log

FYI you do Not want to run that I/C on an angle like that. It will Kill air flow to the radiator and you will run too hot.

Unless of course you plan on running Al rad the size of that I/C to compensate ;)

Yes, thatís the idea.
I have a dual core aluminum radiator right behind the IC. Flow through should be really great with dual 12Ē fans pulling air.

Thanks for checking in woodsie.
I canít believe itís been this long since Iíve updated the build here, but progress is dreadfully slow. Thereís definitely some steps Iíve taken with the GLHS, but not as much as one might think.

Iím sure Iíve spent more time working on other peopleís TurboDodge cars than mine, but thatís a big part of the means to afford building mine.

The systems presently being built are the brakes and fuel systems.
I replaced the factory prop valve with an adjustable unit, and replaced the under hood brake lines with NiCopp lines.

Out back, I lightened the trailing arm a bit by removing metal, but probably added it back with the paint
The rear brakes are the vented rear discs from a G-body. This also adds weight, but Iím gonna see how it does and if need be I have ideas on a much lighter replacement trailing arm.

Fuel system; I was going to run the -6an stainless braided line for the feed, and use the factory feed as the return, but I got the roll of stainless braided and thereís enough to run both feed and return!

Itís coming together; slowly, but surely. I have no projected completion date, as I missed so many of them it makes no sense to have one.
Itíll take a while (10 years already lol), but there will be no compromise included when itís ready.

Thanks again for checking in.

Re: 1987 GLHS#0896 Project log

Have you been looking into the Honda trail arm setup that Don Noel is going to use, or something scratch built? Also, I need to ship you these harnesses so you can merge them together into a SMEC harness for #958.

Well, Iím sure Iíll use Donís idea and design as a sort of road map, and may end up going exactly as he did, but I really donít know yet.

Yes, yes you do.
I have a page on the book of faces,
Turbo Mopar Wiring
Feel free to HMU there, and we can discuss the details.

1987 GLHS#0896 Project log

Iím not sure I posted a pic of the engine, but it was looking pretty good.....

HOWEVER; I was rotating it one day(as I do every time Iím down at the shop), and I noticed a paint chip...
I thought to myself that if the paint is flaking off as it sits on the engine stand, I canít imagine the nightmare once itís running in the engine bay!

So after a week or three of debating what to do about it I began the paint stripping process.
I immediately noticed that the factory orange paint was still under the black primer my machinist used on the block...

I started on a small section in the corner to get a feel for the stripper and how it works. Itís extremely effective!

As you can see, it bubbles the paint right down to the cast iron. The label directions say to apply and then wait 5 to 15 minutes, then scrape. Obviously scraping an engine block would be nearly impossible, but I used a wire brush and water. I have no hose here; so I used a spray bottle along with the wire brush to rinse/scrub away the old paint and stripper...

Lastly, to prevent the bare iron from rusting I immediately applied a flash coat of primer...

I took my time with this and only got the front side of the engine stripped, about 2hrs. But itís the first time Iíve used stripper like this, and I have to be sure that the stripper only goes where I want it to.

Iíll post more progress; hopefully soon!

Re: 1987 GLHS#0896 Project log

and I sold my shelby valve cover to ed
he sold it to you
and here you are

with the D C cover .. I'm STILL looking for instead of..

arugh

looks good , paint or no paint !!!

keep your engine paint as thin as you can

and try to prevent long time winter freezing that allows the paint to shrink sooo much it splits

if your shop was really really cold for an extended time that's probably the issue

thick paint compounds that issue

my blue car below had the paint stick for years and years even after I stopped driving it but one winter in the driveway with no starts and that was the end of the paint

Hey Doc! How ya been?
The mileage that SHELBY VC has on it is unbelievable! Because after I got it from Ed, I kept it and painted it to match the silver engine. However, I came across the DC VC, and made a deal for cash plus the SHELBY VC with a guy in CA.
Well, Ed ended up getting from the guy in CA on another deal!!! Crazy, right?

Thanks for the tip.
I plan on being very meticulous with it. At least as meticulous as possible.
Iíll be sure to update my progress.
