connector to starter

Hi,
I am working on my '85 GLH Turbo. Is the positive wire from battery to starter with molded connection to starter still available? anywhere, aftermarket? any tips ...thanks
Had an issue recently and the starter would not stop cranking even with the ignition key off. I think the problem is with the starter switch. I found the small wire at the starter solenoid melted. I allowed, drove for about 1/4 mile, with this problem until I realized it wasn't just a noisy accessory belt. I smelled burning wires and immediately stopped. when I turned the key to the off position the starter was still cranking and white smoke was coming from the bellhousing timing window. I am not gonna take any chances with the starter and am replacing it along with the starter switch.
Thanks all!

As far as I know there's no aftermarket harness available.

Perhaps you can replace the portion of the melted wire with new, soldering & using adhesive double walled shrink tubing to seal the splice points? Depends on the damage though.

Either try a junkyard or hopefully someone here has one.

Good luck on this!

Re: connector to starter

Guys, Thank you for the help....
I looked through my stash and found a starter harness from an '86 Shelby Charger that I parted way back in maybe '95 or so. I was able to secure a good starter solenoid wire from it and I ordered standard products positive cable part # A41-6C....what are the chances that it will actually look like that? we will see in a few days.
With parts from the '86 Shelby Charger and the new cable I will integrate the wires into my existing starter harness....will let you know how it goes!

Re: connector to starter

This is what you need. Went thru a hunt to find a replacement. Got one from a LeBaron out of a junkyard in Colorado. Good Luck!!

Re: connector to starter

What gauge is the factory starter wire from the battery? The replacement feels just a bit smaller in diameter.
My replacement cable is 6 gauge and looks nice but will need some tweaking to work. The cable itself is a standard products part # A41-6c and has 6 gauge copper S.A.E. type SGX printed on it. Thanks for the help.

Per my '83 FSM for L Bodies, wire from starter to battery is 6RD (6 AWG red).

That should work...

Don't forget the starter insulation. You don't want that cooking!
