Need O2 sensor wiring schematic for 89 Shelby CSX

Getting code 21, already replaced the O2 sensor. Initial wiring check shows no broken wires.

Re: Need O2 sensor wiring schematic for 89 Shelby CSX

glhs727/Cindy: It's new NTK unit came per wired with proper connector on it, but I did not check the connector to confirm the wires were in proper order nor did I check the other end for bent or pushed in pins...my bad.

Turbomini: Thanks for the wiring colors, that's a start.

Re: Need O2 sensor wiring schematic for 89 Shelby CSX

Should the power wire have 12 volts present when engine started cold?

With key off both white ground wires good to ground.
with key on engine running 1 ground wire good other no longer grounded.
volts coming out of disconnected sensor black wire start cold at .01v and climbed to .2 volts within 1-2 minutes of running
little or no volts on blk/blu wire from controller when started cold engine.

Re: Need O2 sensor wiring schematic for 89 Shelby CSX

Here are the diagnostics from the 90 VNT FSM.
Only difference will be the controller cavities since 89 is a SMEC and 90 is a SBEC.
There are also 2 definitions for Code 21..
1)Oxygen Sensor Signal
2)Oxygen Sensor Shorted High
Only a scanner will give you the true definition

89 O2 Wiring to SMEC(All in 60 Pin Connector)
1)BK/DG Cavity #23 O2 Signal
2)DG/BK Power Feed from ASD.
Wire to O2 Heater is spliced in harness where wire is also spliced for + coil.
3)BK Cavity #5 Signal Ground
4)BK/LB Cavity #4 Sensor Ground

Re: Need O2 sensor wiring schematic for 89 Shelby CSX

Found the problem...the bolt on the 60 pin connector at the SMEC was loose. A wiggle test here w/the engine running quickly revealed the real problem. So...I have a spare used O2 sensor in the glove box now, with a spare HEP! LOL.

It was many years old anyway and probably should have been replaced anyway.
