Re: dash pad '82 Rampage

Sounds like the L-body vinyl dash pad is glued to the larger dash and not bonded to a removable metal frame. Looks like I may need to restore the vinyl dash.

If a complete dash is available in Texas I'm interested but this part is likely too large to ship.

NOTE OK;>>> Yes the dash pad is part of the dash itself ,and not separate part .....Yes their are some CO. that make them from a mould but it is only the covering material for the dash of Vinyl fabric only....You can order any colour and glue it down over the dash ...
The OEM install is a mould of the DASH shape and vinyl FABRIC pressed into mould shape dash frame set on foam rubber blocks while the edges of vinyl are glued down to the dash on the back. They use a canister of expandable foam rubber...This is injected into the back in the holes in the dashes plastic frame in the mould. NOTE to spray dash frame and vinyl with contact glue first before you place the parts into the mould for better adhesion to expandable foam rubber .MATERIAL NOTE use high density expandable foam rubber.

So you can do it yourself with new dash fabric on your install...LOL.

Re: dash pad '82 Rampage

I have not found an ABS plastic dashcap for L-bodies. The ABS dashcaps are not OEM quality, but they look okay. The thin dash caps can crack when someone leans on them, feet on the dash etc. I think these caps would make a smooth base for a glued on vinyl cover.

You can use autobody repair plastic fillers to sculpt and shape the dash, filling in holes and cracks. Only the adhesive for vinyl roofs is suitable for bonding the vinyl cloth to the dash. A hot air gun will help shape the vinyl. Get good quality vinyl, thinner material can fail.

So you can try any of the >>> Marine grade Fabrics and Materials <<<
They are of >>>factory OEM quality<<<
Fabric is much THICKER than the dash cap fabrics sold out their for the automotive repair fabric vinyl's now.
They come in many shades and colours BEST CHOICE of materials.
NOTE: Ok you can spray die them as well to get a exact shade if needed.
But getting a NUMBER OF BATCH SAMPLES will help to offset the need to change the shade.
