Re: 90 Daytona on a diet

I got all the mounting tabs welded on and all the fittings welded in. And my 6an to barb adapters came in today along with fuel filter and fuel injection hose clamps, now just got to buy some fuel injection hose and hook it all up. then with the old tank and fuel lines out of the way under the p/s floorboard, I can start welding in the p/s floorboard patch repair panel.

Got the fill in and marked out for the mounting tabs and supply and return fittings. also leak tested it today and found out it holds an even 5 gallons, which is more than I thought.

That's right, luckily my youngest just finished potty training so from now on I'll have to source my templates from some other type of cardboard besides diaper boxes, lol.

I love this picture. Especially since we've met.

Sign of a true Dad with young ones. Making a fuel tank template out of a Pampers box.... Wow does that bring back memories...

My L body felt like between 17 and 21 pounds without the sending unit. No clue on the G body.

Re: 90 Daytona on a diet

Hoping to get the cell built this coming week, already got the fill cap and a 300 lph. Bosch inline fuel pump, so once I get that all going I'll be dropping and weighing original fuel tank. Any guesses on weight of an empty fuel tank?

yep, strictly a drag car that will towed to the track and towed back when it breaks. never been excited much about road courses. grew up in a circle track racing family, but always had more fun drag racing than anything else.

Re: 90 Daytona on a diet

So you're going for a pure drag car then? No roundy-round or course racing?

Re: 90 Daytona on a diet

With the dismissal of the front sway bar and hardware, the car has dropped another 21 lbs. setting the total to date weight reduction to 611.5 pounds and in theory leaving the car weighing in at 2351 lbs. there will be some weight added back to the car like the intercooler, piping and floor board repairs but there's also still quite a few other places that are going to lose weight.
