Re: Glass jar on Engine

I had a small trans leak that was bugging me.

I even had the pump resealed but still a small leak, left a spot after driving.

I put a hose fitting in the bottom of the trans bellhousing and sealed the dust shield.

The rest you can see, works great, no more trans fluid spots on the ground

Very cool watching the fluid swirling around the jar when the Engine is running.!!

I empty the jar contents into the trans whenever it gets about 1/2 full.

Thanks
Randy

It looks a lot like a home-brew catch can to me.

One side inlet to the intake breather, one side connected to the valve cover.

That's my guess.

im guessing trans fluid . or other fluid . and that is a vapor set up.
for keeping the induction clean.. back of the valves and runners and what not.

Maybe it's a tip from the Red Green Show using Canadian Whiskey.

If you can't drive drunk at least your car can!

But I don't see any duct tape...

Some sort of air filter using motor oil?

I had a '56 Chevy pick up way back when in which the air filter consisted of an assembly with motor oil that filtered the air...

Re: Glass jar on Engine

Good guess but no, it's the totally reliable, economical, powerful and misunderstood 2.7 with a normal PCV.

It's been perfectly reliable for well over 300K and I'm hoping the jar might get me to 500K with no extra expense.

Thanks
Randy

PS: Think guys think, obviously it's not something one sees every day.

Re: Glass jar on Engine

maybe an attempt at automotive genetic modification

hey if all it takes is a jar of R/T or SVT juice and an I-V tube .. it would sure save us all a lot of work if you can get that to happen..

I'm presuming that's not an Olds and that's not a jar of their "rocket fluid"

OK......

remember science class .. when they taught the correct lab procedure to sample sniff an unknown substance

yeah don't stick your nose in the jar
waft a little your way with your hand ..

not to suggest you do but if you do..

Re: Glass jar on Engine

vacuum reserve reservoir ??

if there's nothing but the jar , the lines and a check valve on the engine side I'd presume that's the intent
