I have been away from Dodges a while and recently purchased a 1990 Dakota with a 2.5 and a five speed. I have been told the Rear drive 2.5 blocks are conciderably different from the front drivers.
Is this true?
Also I have done the conversion before, used a 2.0 head and manifolds, bought a super60 kit from Mother Mopar and added a camphaser kit. The little electric eccentric that can increase/decrease cam centerline timing.
Anyway at AlamoDragway in Texas I put my 1987 Charger on the Chasis dyno at the track, one of those big truck mounted touring deals, Mopar Performance Magazine was there. I had 388hp at the wheel with only 18lbs boost.
Also does anyone know about the Lebaron/Mazaratti TC from 1993 that came factory turbo 16v and put out 250hp.
Or what about the Daytona's of the early 90's the Shelby Pacifica was also a 16v Turbo and it was BAD TO THE BONE. But I dont remember if they were 2.2 or 2.5.
I would use those factory parts still available from Mopar Performance I bet.
And thanks for the info and a great website for help.

I had the same thought. Only reason I want to do the Dak is nobody has a turbo 4 I have seen in one. Everyone goes v8, I actually bought a truck v10 to put in it for the cool factor, but just couldn't pony for the tranny to. 5 g's for a used motor/tranny that only had 300 hp seemed a bit steep. I spend that on the 2.5 I bet to make at least 450.
I am in CLeveland. Drop a pm we can trade phone numbers. I know a guy here in town that had at least three turbo cars in his salvage yard last year. I will see if he still has them, we could go scavaging.
