Owned since 1995, garage kept since 1997, about 10K miles since 1995, put about 800 miles on it last summer. Was originally from Pennsylvania, I got it from Akron, Ohio but the owner I bought it from there had it in California for college for several years. This on top of being rustproofed when new the car is pretty solid and rust free (other than the hatch) for a 110K mile rust belt car. I think I am the third owner, possibly fourth but have owned it for most of its life but not many of the miles on the clock are mine but everything has pretty much been gone through in the last 10K. Very strong running and solid overall car.
Car is number 691 of 1000 built, 2.2 Liter turbocharged and intercooled 4 cylinder with 5 speed manual transmission.
Engine
- Rebuilt at 100K miles
- New head - valve pocket machining cleaned up and ported, back cut valves lapped to seats, roller followers and '88 roller cam which has been centerlined with Mopar kit, new lifters, intake and exhaust manifolds matched to head, new injectors and regulator, new valve springs, retainers, and locks, Viton valve seals.
- Replacement turbo from Forward Motion, new oil lines
- Stock radiator re-cored with proper two row core, new water pump.
- New fuel pump assembly (strainer, pump, rheostat, hanger)
- Mopar silicone plug wire kit, new distributor with pickup coil "castle" firmly attached with no slop.
- Converted alternator to Denso 90A unit and bracket using stock harness, original rebuilt Chrysler round back and bracket included as well as working 120A Denso that makes noise.
- Rebuilt starter, most sensors under hood have been replaced.
- Exhaust is stock, had originally planned to autocross it in stock class and couldn't upgrade it, autocrossed it once since I have owned it, changes in interests, priorities and family soon after didn't free up cash for upgrading. Catback portion is pretty bad. -
Exhaust would really wake this thing up!
- Stage II computer installed, stock GLHS computer included
- Shelby medallion oil filler cap added to Shelby valve cover
- A/C system intact, holding pressure with R12 but not working, pin broken on the clutch, working used compressor and clutch assembly and an extra new in box clutch included. Compressor clutch disconnected and belt removed for now.
- All new mounts, has baffled oil pan and performance oil pump.
Transmission
- Rebuilt at 100K miles
- Mopar girdle kit
- Mopar diff gear kit
- Case drilled and threaded with added drain plug
- New shift forks and pads, new stop rings
- New speed sensor housing
- Shift linkages rebuilt, plastic parts replaced with metal joints and bushings (same as turbododgeparts.com pieces), welded pivot pin to eliminate slop.
- Centerforce clutch on resurfaced flywheel
- Halfshafts rebuilt at same time as transmission by local driveline shop, cleaned and regreased CVJs with new boots and replacement ujoint.
Suspension
- Original Koni's reconditioned by TrueChoice at 100K miles
- Koni adjustment knob and custom Snap-On screwdriver adjuster included
- Mopar hard stub strut bushing kit, new pivot bushings, new strut mounts and bearings
- BFGoodrich Comp T/A ZR tires, old but no dry rot and about 75% tread
- New steering pump and lines
- Brakes are stock
Interior
- All GLHS specific items present including dash plaque, Momo knob, non-armrest console and leather wrapped wheel which is off the car currently.
- Boost gage added
- Vintage Chrysler Ultimate Sound System with Equalizer stereo installed, original tape deck comes with the car.
- Headliner recovered, all plastic trim painted light gray with SEM interior paint (no yellow panels)
- Door chrome strips reconditioned
- Grant wheel and proper installation kit and spacer, Shelby medallion horn button, original leather wrapped Tuff Wheel comes with car, leather intact, no rips but thin.
- Seats original and in good shape, CS on drivers seat is thinning
- Original carpet is presentable
- Laminated window sticker replica included for shows with correct data for this car
- 1987 SDAC dash plaque added to console
- Pristine condition Omni/Charger and Shelby owners manuals in glove box
- Missing the gray sunroof bag, has a burgundy one.
Body
- Repainted about 10 years ago, not perfect but shows nice, new decals applied, have the stripe but not installed, car was partially torn down for repaint (air dam and skirts, spoiler, window trim, door handles, etc. all removed) so no peeling paint or masking lines, only bad was masking behind the grille wasn't done so there was some overspray inside the nose area. I have tried to clean it up but it is not perfect. Sides could use a good buffing.
- No major rust, had a few surface spots on the doors and the bottom lip of the hatch was rotting at the seam, it is starting to bubble up a bit. Had a small hole the size of a dime in the floor where water and crud got under the undercoating and ate through, ground that all down, fixed the hole and painted the floors with RustOleum.
- Has a couple of small door dings on the drivers side door which are on the reinforcement and can't be pushed back out, maybe a paintless place could do it? Also has a ding in the passenger side door it just picked up from getting hit by something that flew up on the road, looking at fixing it.
- All trim, hood vent, wipers, mirrors, portions of rear bumper painted satin black, vents on sail panels masked and painted as well.
- Sunroof outer seal dry rotted, inner good, does not leak.
- New Mopar door handles with satin black inserts installed when painted.
- All underhood GLHS items and decals intact including Mobil plaque. Have the original hood vent block off panel but it is removed currently.
- Direct Connection louvers installed on back window, solid but should be painted, also has a Power By Dodge, Unleashed By -
Shelby decal on the back window from when I was running without the louver.
- Replaced sealed beams with SEV Marchal H4 bulb headlights.
- Centurions stripped and polished, in great shape
- SDAC decals (vintage to when the car would have been new) on side windows added
- Just replaced hatch struts with stronger units meant for use with louvers and a spoiler.
Other
- Full set of 1987 service manuals and GLHS service manual, full 1987 GLHS VIN list, reproduction window sticker, piles of receipts from dealership showing parts used during rebuild.
- Extra parts - 2.5" swingvalve and bolts (requires bigger downpipe due to bolt spread), Used Mopar "turbo" cam (causes lopey idle, not smooth, was in the car when I got it), used head assembly that was taken off the car when rebuilt, set of like new gas shocks and struts used when the Konis were getting rebuilt, set of Mopar race motor mounts (not fun on the street), Non A/C alternator bracket, extra center console, extra radio bezel with top portion removed to work with newer radios (so you can see the display), spare silver faced radio like the stock one, new battery tray (original still on the car, still functional but broken near the intercooler), new in box water pump (spare from another project)
- Negotiable extra parts - Full set of Centurions (CSX style) that are in good shape but need stripped and polished, new in box Mopar head, 1996 model Chrysler stereo with tape, EQ, and remote 6 disk changer (Alpine).
Issues
- Hatch release and rear defrost do not work, currently unhooked.
- Oil pressure sender is finicky, sometimes works, usually stops working once the oil is hot. Should be replaced.
- Couple of door dings as described above, car is deep, shiny black and they are visible.
- Louver is in good shape but could be scuffed and painted to be nice. Has some scratches and is discolored. Back window is permanently marked from the louver sitting on it over the years.
$5,500 OBO, worst offer you can make is no offer, sold as is, it is a 30 year old car with no warranty.
Extra set of centurions (need stripped and polished), brand new head, used head and other parts available as well, totally getting out of TD's.
