After losing my 3.8 to a random oil dump, I swapped a good/low mileage 3.3 in it's place.

I did some porting/cleanup, which to my surprise, there isn't much for flaws in the 3.3's heads to clean up. I also added my 58MM tb, spacer, shorty intake, and bigger exhaust.

It runs great and feels strong, but it's severely lacking in the low end. After having the 3.8L for so long, I'm having a very hard time being happy with this new setup.

So the question is, what can I do with the 3.3L to make it perform better?

get custom valves +1 sized. deshroud the chamber. cut back the guides and port the head.

cut up a spare intake and rework it with larger plenum.

shave the heads more.

make headers.

look into cams/rockers.

DOHC swap?

Don't think you can advance these motors without retuning them.

I guess before I did all the work of tearing it down and reworking the heads, I would just spend the time to rebuild the 3.8L I pulled out.
